I think the same as you Rayfan, but it might have to come down to a voting if others prefer an older style.

RO style will also give us the opportunity to give other characters a newer, smoother look themselves.

I just spent a while posting a bit in the French forum (I'm trying to get better), and now I'm having trouble reading English. Anywho, I think that yes, sleek and new is the way to go. It might actually be interesting mixing this new style with older-style environments.

Like shrood showed me, there's a channel on youtube that shows you the basics. http://www.youtube.com/user/3dsMaxHowTos

I watched two videos so far so I can only model. :D Who knows if I'll understand animation, maybe I will learn it just as fast, maybe I won't get the hang of it at all. :fou:

I personally have a much easier time with animating. I want to see you animate Spanny.!

If you ever try animating and use rigs, and have a problem making it loop, here's a way to solve it. I of course asked the question, being the animation-newb that I am, and I these solutions solved the problem. Look out for tyree's posts, he's a big help.

And yes, Rayfan, I made all of those Flips. Thanks a lot!

And I have some great ideas in mind with my model. I want to make Rayman move as natural as possible.

What do you mean by "made all of those Flips?"

Spanex, can I still animate your model for this game?

Sorry it's taking so long. Scanner's got lost under piles of papers and food leftovers :F

Here's sketch. Still, I have to finish it. Before the puppet/robot had wires of some sort sticking from almost everywhere. But after some time I changed my mind and tried to make it more... steampunkish (or "let's gather all junk and hoodblaster's scraps that lie around us and make a robot of it that may explode anytime yaaay"). Added some pipes and other useless stuff. That... square thing on the right is registration plate (it should have "I <3 Plum" written on it, but Louve cannot draw plums :T).

Terrific job, Louvis!
RayFan9876 wrote:What do you mean by "made all of those Flips?"
I will answer this question with a series of quotes.
RayFan9876 wrote:Shroob, did you make all those yourself? They're brilliant!
Shrooblord wrote:And yes, Rayfan, I made all of those Flips. Thanks a lot!
So what I meant to say was, yes, I made all of those Flipnotes (Flips - the things I linked to in my post and the thing you commented on) myself. Thanks for your comment!

Regarding the Rayman Origins/Rayman Whatever styles, I personally would prefer a R2 style - though that is because I've always loved Rayman most in that way. I could get to grow accustomed to the RO style, though it will not hold the same place in my heart as R2 does. Maybe if we really cannot reach an agreement on the matter we can include different styles in different skins, though I do not see this as a fine solution myself.

Keep up the good work, Spanex! :)

Well done Louvi! Hope you'll be able to finish it soon!

Oh, is the backside of his head supposed to be cut off by the image? .. D:

My idea for the Rayman style, I'd say either R2 or R3 as the basic ones, and then all the others as skins- or have them as totally different characters like with Link and Toon Link.

Guess we're gonna have to make extra models and start a voting. :hehe:

the R3 and Origins style are actually very much alike. RO just has a few different details such as the more R2 like shoes and purple hoodie strings. I do like R2 too, but I believe it's a bit too old for this game. Rayman has gone through two new designs since R2. I do believe the R2's way of movement should return. Y'know...his animations, but then smoothed out and more realistic like how some game animation is nowadays.

R1 style is even older, so I don't even need to say anything.

Would it hurt mixing the R2 and RO/3 styles in some way? ...Yeah, that would look awful. Scrap that idea.

Plus, the whole fact, that the RO model is in 2-d.

I do wonder now what style will eventually be picked.

i think if we vote, the majority will be on R2. the R3 model to me would be perfect- if only they had a neckerchief not a hoodie.

Actually because of recent arguments, I'm more sided on the Rayman 2 style now. I don't know. You guys duke it it and see who wins.

I'd be 'kay with R2, long as it's not R1. @__@

Guess I'll recycle the good parts out of my old model. I kinda messed the hoodie up! (looks very unsmooth, did use the smooth option)
