I was sure you were going to check out this game and I was very curious to see if you discovered anything interesting, but I never expected there would be so much stuff and the cheat menu be this easy to enable!
I have a doubt, there's just too much unused content in this game, I wonder if the devs left all the this in the game on purpose!
I have a question though, does enabling the cheats in the .ini file have any other effects in the game other than activating the cheat menu?

Haha, I didn't expect there would be this much either! I don't think they left everything here on purpose though Back in 2003 they had a function to clean the game's BF (BigFile) that automatically removed all unused content - my theory is that now that they switched to a different format (to support large filesizes), that function didn't work anymore and they didn't bother reprogramming it.
Aside from the cheat menu, cheats also enable a free camera function (it's briefly mentioned in the Oasis section of the video) and some cheat codes we haven't identified yet (mainly because I'm testing on the Switch version and these require keyboard support)!

Usually, I complain about Ubisoft's laziness but this time I'm grateful, I hope it will happen again if your theory is correct!
I hope you can identify the rest of the other cheat codes soon because I'm so curious to see what they are for

Oh wow, you sure don’t waste time do you?
I don’t have the remaster yet, so I’ll refrain from watching the video for now. But with that much content, I’m certain now that at some point I will be getting this game. I can’t wait to see what else you (and anyone else probing through the game like RayCarrot) find!

Honestly, it still blows my mind that we now live in a world where you can casually say "I exported it to the Rayman 4 prototype and explored the map as Rayman"!

I just made a new video - this new version of Beyond Good & Evil is the best one in terms of unused content. They just left everything in, and it's super easy for everyone to play a lot of it!
What an impressive find!
The robot shooting buttons in the ceiling feels like a more awkward version of the battle against Clark in Rayman 2. I can understand why they cut it.
Among the extra content - was there any additional music that didn't make it into the final game?
Having only played the full game once, a couple of years ago, I can't remember whether I've heard each of these tracks before...

Agreed… To me it feels like something someone did messing around in the level editor, which might never have been intended to get into the final game…

Double posting (sorry ) in case anyone is interested and has forgotten: pre-orders are now open for the Collector's Editions at Limited Run Games. I decided to go for it, looks like they're planning to ship 'em out next May

I recently finished the standard version for the first time, and I wanted to leave some thoughts before I forget.
- I really enjoyed the concept of infiltrating a place and discovering the horrible things that are happening in there and no one else is supposed to see.
- Some of the character designs kind of reminded me of Vexx for the GameCube (or maybe the game graphics from that era have a similar feel to them).
- Unfortunately the game slowed down a little bit at times, I guess my computer specs are not good enough.
- I had trouble figuring out some of the puzzles, but nothing that would stall me for a long time. I felt kind of dumb for not being able to figure out certain things quickly, but it was rewarding when I finally found the answer.
- It was nice to find the Rayman mosquito thing in the game.
- The ending was kind of confusing to me, I'll probably play that part again or watch videos about it.
- I read somewhere that there was a Tonic Trouble reference in the game, but I couldn't find it.
Overall good experience.
Edit: nervermind, I found Ed.

I can't believe I didn't notice Ed in the game while playing. Here is the YouTube video I found and a screenshot from the game.

So the shipment was delayed from May to July, and I got an email today to say it's now being delayed till September, over a year since I ordered it. Very peculiar

Oh yeah, limited run games are known for their bullshit shipping. it takes a longggg time to ship stuff out.
--------------------
I'm gonna be really honest, this game is so acessible for me personally. In my first 2 hours I only needed to look up a guide 1 time! That means that they made it very easy to solve puzzles, without it being convoluted. They also have subtitles, making the game even more acessbile even in the original version! I'm really liking it!

He said "even" in the original, not "than" in the original. No contradiction here

BGE is from an era where, in my jaded opinion, you could feel a lot more imagination and authenticity into the worlds. BGE's world gives me Fifth Element vibes and has some aesthetic similarities with Jak and Daxter (particularly Jak II).
However, in my opinion it doesn't match J&D or Rayman as a game, and my hot take is that the dev team who rebelled against Michel Ancel because they wanted it to be more open are responsible for this. When you focus on the openness a lot of the moment-to-moment gameplay gets watered down. It even affects the plot because without that tension in the gameplay it is hard to get emotionally invested. I often found myself really liking the ideas and *wishing* I could get more invested.
Am I being too harsh? The charm of the game is undeniable and I've yearned for BGE2 ever since that beautiful, beautiful trailer from all those years ago.

You mean how all the missions involve you getting deeper and deeper into the conspiracy, and becoming a high-priority target for the military, but then when you wander around the world in between them there's an almost total lack of a sense of threat, or even urgency? Yeah, I felt that disconnect too from the very first time I played. In fact, as my mind processed that incongruity, it arguably led me to have quite a strange dream.

Oooh, I didn't realize Limited Run Games did something for BG&E. Though with the 20th Anniversary Edition, makes me want to get it and play it again. I enjoyed this game a lot!
