Okey, I am trying to install Rayman Gold on linux. The game doesn't work at all, it keeps asking for a cd even if I have mounted it in dosbox.

It turns out Éric Pelatan (one of the two background artists for Rayman 1) was also the artistic director for R3 GBA. I guess that explains why it looks so right.

Horray for veteran workers of Rayman games!

The copy of the Rayman Soundtrack that comes with the GOG.com Rayman Forever has given names to all of the tracks (EG. The main Candy Chateau theme is called 'The Mad Race'). However, some of the tracks names seem a bit odd or unfitting. For instance, one track is titled 'dolphins' despite there being no dolphins in the level, or the whole game for that matter

while another is called 'The Jungle' despite being a Band Land track where there are no jungles. Strange.
I was wondering if these track names are actually official or if GOG.com just made them up. Anyone have a clue?

I've got a question. My version of Rayman 1, which I've bought in a store while I was young (like 5 years or so old), doesn't contain some sound effects, like the 'YEAH!' or the sounds you hear when you've destroyed a cage and the golden medal appears. It also shows the wrong controls when you acquire a power (like, press C to punch (or Z, or whatever it says)). Is this normal? As it just occured to me while playing the Jaguar version, that those controls that are shown in the 'subtitles' when you acquire a power, seem to be the same as the controls of the Jaguar version (but I'm not 100% sure).

Are you talking about the PC version? More recent copies of the game started to have cropped soundtrack.

Yes, I was. Well, I don't know whether my copy was 'recent', but it was bought in the year 2000, or 2001, or something like that. It was in a large 'box' (which I unfortunately do not have anymore), like an oversized CD/DVD case (for PC games). I don't know what was inside anymore, the only thing I still have is a normal, blank (small) CD case with a yellow CD with, I believe, Rayman and Mosquito with those red fruits on it.

Hmmm, you should confirm the title and the contents of the CD, because I think that only the first edition (and single) of Rayman 1 for PC had the entire soundtrack.
My Rayman Collector hasn't got some musics that appear in PS1, no intro and ending movies, no language selection (It is French only) and no voice files (like Tarayzan giving the magic seed, etc).

I have a version which was distributed with Rayman 2 and Rayman M. That one doesn't have the intro (I doubt it has outro), otherwise - I find merged tracks wierd but if that was in the original version, that's fine by me... When I compare those tracks with Saturn version (or was that Dreamcast? I don't remember it anymore), my has about 37 tracks while the other about 47 (not counting the passing the stage and death themes since they're stored a little difrently in the PC version - as SFX)...

Well, mine has the intro, outro, all of the music (I think, at least, I'll probably check it out sometimes later todat) of RayTunes, it has those voice sounds (Tarayzan says something like 'Hey Rayman' when that picture comes up wit hthe magic seed and all that)... Anything else?

Posting here because the Retro Gamer article I previously mentioned is more about Rayman 1 than anything. I bought a copy of it just now though I'm round my boyfriend's right now so I can only scan it when I get home. Lol it even mentions that the TV series is on youtube in a small column about it.

Just a short question...
Does anybody know if there is a Rayman 1 PC Compilation disc which which includes the full Rayman 1 soundtrack?
I bought the Rayman Platin Collection (A collection which has Rayman 1, 60 New Levels, By His Fans and Designer on one disc released in 2000) and the disc only includes between two or three tracks for each world. (Even stranger, that one calm music track in which you hear water drops at the beginning from The Caves Of Skops is played in the Dream Forest with this disc)
Here's a shot of the cd's main menu, so you know which disc I am talking about:
The missing tracks do not really bother me in the add-on games but the fact that they are also missing in the original Rayman 1 is really annoying...
I wish I still had my original 1995 versionof Rayman 1...
Edit:
Just to let you know, it doesn't have to be a German version.
Any English or French release which has the add-ons AND all music tracks from the original game would be just fine!

I must say that menu shot is almost equal to my Rayman Collector's menu.

Hmm, perhaps this "Rayman Platin Collection" I bought is just the German equivalent of your Rayman Collector's edition.
Does your CD include the same games as the one I got there?
There are so many different "special" editions of Rayman 1 for the PC that it is hard to differentiate between them.
I am quite sure that the disc I have is not the only version which has all the games together on one disc...
It also includes three flash style mini games and a "Rayman 2 - Making Of" video, by the way!

Rayman Collector is the most complete pack of the first generation of Rayman games:
- Rayman
- Rayman Designer
- Rayman By His Fans
- Rayman 60 Inedit Levels
- 4 small videos of Making-Of Rayman 2
- 3 small minigames
But everything is in French, except Rayman Designer which is the only one configurable to English.

In this case my Rayman Platin Collection is exactly the same thing in German!
I guess they just changed the name from Collector to Platin Collection for whatever reason...
Some of the files on the CD are actually called "RayColl" which makes this even more likely to be the same collection as Rayman Collector:
60 New Levels (which is called Rayman Forever on my disc) and Rayman By His Fans are German only:

Rayman Designer (which is called Rayman's World on my disc) has English, French and German language available:

I can't install Rayman 1. When I run Config.exe, it gives an error, and when I run Autorun.exe, it says it can't find Config.exe. These errors are probably because I use Windows 7 (x64), but I can't find how to fix these errors... So, how can I play Rayman 1?

Are you trying to play the PC version of Rayman 1?? If so, you'll have to get the digital download version of Rayman Forever from gog.com (it's confirmed to work in Windows 7)

Gog.com? Well, okay... And yes, I was trying to install the PC version.
EDIT: But that costs money, or...?
EDIT2: Luckily, torrents exist.
