Oh.
Severity doesn't really matter in this context if both are clearly unaccaptible.

Both are unacceptable, and I get what you're saying, I just think better contrasts could have been used imo.

I do respect your guys's stance but I do find it still a little unacceptable. Nintendo's image is kind of part of there problem this gen. I can't enjoy a wii u game anymore without one person throwing the kiddy statement. I really hope Nintendo focuses towards a more mature audience next gen, while still keeping those new fans.

There's a big difference between developing and publishing. Splatoon is a game they're making for kids. Adults will play it, and Nintendo knows this, but their main demographic is kids. One of their big selling points is that average parents can buy Nintendo games for their children and not have to worry about swearing etc.

If anything I'd suggest they add the ability to voice chat with friends only, if they haven't already.

I don't play Nintendo games for the same experience as COD or Mass Effect, so I really don't have a problem with them doing their own thing.

Here's what I think: there should be voice chat type servers, and non voice chat servers, those under the age of 13 will not be able to join voice chat servers. At least have some limit.

Yeah, I get that those guys could easily lie about their age, but I highly doubt Nintendo would be any bit to blame for doing that, if anything that sounds more fair.

And like I said they could ban swearing like they do on miiverse. It's a feature that no matter what way of having it, friends only game, etc. really should be implemented. I know millions of people who are upset by this, both adults and teens. There's a reason why the Wii U is Nintendo's worst selling console.

I get it's a kids game but in some form voice chat needs to be included. And I don't get why Nintendo would be concerned about kids talking to random strangers considering the wii u chat... Where random people on miiverse can add you and talk to you, on cam at that, if anything that sounds worse than Splatoon.

Not including voice chat in some little form is really hurting the image of Nintendo, that and the lack of third party. I still love Nintendo but I criticize them when needed and when I see people say "No, nothing's wrong, everything's fine" it bothers the hell out of me. Nintendo has been proven to listen to us at times and I think Nintendo got the message from everyone of the wii u, I predict next gen they'll have a better grip on third party, but we will just have to see.

If you're gonna play with friends, couldn't you just use Skype? Other than that, I see no reason for voice chat. My experience with it has been a mixture of twelve year olds who just discovered swearing and college students who act like twelve years olds who just discovered swearing. You can always attempt to block or mute that, but you're always gonna get some kind of exposure to it. The Minecraft server I used to play on not only had a whole team of moderators, as well as a pretty tight security system that gave people strikes when they broke the rules, and it was still nearly impossible to keep the young kids from occasionally being exposed to that stuff, because they'd still have to actually do something before they could be banned.

But yeah, voice chat just doesn't feel like it brings out any good conversation when it's a public place. It's like youtube comments being read out loud.

I'm saying in short I don't get what's wrong with a FEATURE that people don't have to use. For the sake of Nintendo getting there system
off shelves I think they'd benefit from that.

Forgetting about this topic for a second, holy shit guys, what do you think of the new Xenoblade coming to Wii U?

Looks really fucking gorgeous and the best Wii U game as far as I've seen, super hyped.

Y'all just being arrogant.

And Xenoblade is looking pretty good, but I'm not much of an RPG gamer.

Also, Netflix is seeking to make a Legend of Zelda live action series. Thoughts?

Now I may have a reason to subscribe to Netflix, but I'll still consult other people's opinions before I engage myself to this huge pile of capitalistic evil.

Pretty much this aswell I do am sure I did not affirm in my previous statement that Nintendo games shouldn't have voice chat.

Alright now this is getting a little out of hand, it's one thing not to care about voice chat, but just saying Nintendo should never use it and dump evolving all together. Nintendo has shown us during the Wii U launch they want to give us that definitive console experience. You're telling me that even Wii U chat shouldn't include voice chat? AT the very least include wii u chat as a background task.

I feel like those who say "Nintendo doesn't need voice chat" or "Nintendo doesn't need third party" are afraid to see the company evolve.

I stick to my statement about voice chat, but I think some of you guys brought up some good points. However I do think at the very least they could include friends only voice chat, because I can guarantee Nintendo is really alienating out the audience for the few Wii U games that did have voice chat.

Like I said, voice chat isn't a necessity, but I do want to see Nintendo evolve as a company because they are sorely lacking with the times.

Before anyone tries to say Nintendo is perfect the way it is:
http://www.dromble.com/2015/01/21/forme ... much-more/

Even an old exec of Nintendo thinks they are flawed. Again, I love Nintendo, has some of my favorite franchises, but I'm ashamed to call myself a fan when nobody criticizes them over questionable business practices.

I wasn't implying you, nor really anyone on this topic. Just expressing my distaste for fanboys. It was just that one statement on the voice chat that confused me since I think at least in some small form voice chat should be included.

I also think that for a game like Splatoon the voice chat would make more sense but whoever does the decision to not include must have his own reasons (or reasons of thirds).

I think Ad is talking about the recently announced live action Zelda coming to Netflix. As a huge Zelda fan I hope it does well. :)

Ah, okay. I too am interested in this concept. Hopefully, it doesn't fall through and does get made.

Though, it brings up the question: what would you guys want to see in this show? Would you want Link to be a silent protagonist or would you want him to have a voice? Etc.

I'm not really sure how they'd pull off a silent Lonc in a kid's show. Silent films are usually style over substance or jusy very artsy, and I presume we're not going to have an entire series based around that at the expense of the usual trustworthy Nintendian Gesamtkunstwerk.

Meh, it won't be near the level of the "original" Zelda series, at least.

...Hopefully...

Speaking of Zelda, anyone here super hyped for Majora's Mask 3D in only 3 more days? I'm not sure if it comes out the same day for European countries but I'm really hyped.

The whole reason why I never beat Majora's Mask was simply because I waited for an inevitable remake, and here we are. I'm super stoked. I'm also getting a new 3DS that same day along with Monster Hunter 4. Might do an unboxing video for youtube :)
