Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I admit I prefer original prints but if there was a case that I wouldn't find the original print for a similar or cheaper price than the best-selling reprints I would go for the new cover one. It would not justify to pay extra 20 € for example for a different artwork.

Meh, while I respect the desires of collectors, I'd be happy with having a game regardless of edition. (Though I do have reservations about digital, but that's more due to what BadGuy described than a desire for physicality)
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Yeah, I don't care if the covers different, as long as I have a physical copy that was affordable, I'm good.
Also, the fellow in front looks some sort of reptilian creature. Now we have to wait to see who's or what's in the back.

I am one of the people that only buys original ones. Reprints just look less cool. I would rather pay more for original print than cheaper for reprint.Rayfist wrote:I've seen collectors refuse to buy a 'greatest hits' edition of a PS1 game. I think that's really laughable, it's the same game, just the label is a different color, with the price games go for nowadays, I'm more than happy to take a greatest hits version.

@OCG
But does that really justify paying 20-30 bucks or Euros more? That's just a little over obsessive.
Edit: today is the release of Majoras Mask, Monster Hunter 4, and the New 3DS, I hope to record unboxing for the lack of content on my channel lately.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Feels weird not waiting for it to be honest, since I've never really imported a console before.Master wrote:So, the New 3DS released today, anyone here waiting on it?
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I prefer to wait, maybe there will be better chances. I am happy with my Cosmos Black 3DS that I bought in the eve of the European release.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Not to poke fingers but I'm not sure why any of you bought the original 3DS near it's launch. I waited for the massive price drop, and what does Nintendo offer to those who paid an extra 100 bucks? Here's 20 virtual console games you can easily emulate. Instead they really should've allowed a free digital download to early adopters, for one or two games, maybe Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 3D, etc.
The reason why I'm buying this new 3DS on launch is because the 3DS already has a library going for it... and I'm super stokes to try out the analog stick on a few of the older 3DS games like Metal Gear Solid 3 and Kid Icarus Uprising. Oh and I'm super hyped to see how it'll work with Monster Hunter 4.

I can't speak for those who bought the original 3DS at launch, since I didn't, but in general I buy consoles on day of release, just because I'm excited to try something new, and I'm willing to pay extra in order to have it sooner.
Almost all technology's value depreciates over time, but I don't wait ten years before buying a particular computer (an extreme example but the same principle)

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I'm just really stating that those who actually bought an original 3DS on launch were kind of fucked over. Hell, I bought a Wii U way too early, luckily though I did greatly accompany myself with Tekken Tag 2.
This new 3DS already has a full library though with better 3D capabilities and the dual analog, so I'm all set for the next few months!

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
No arguments there, the 3DS has really established an awesome catalogue of quality gaems! I first bought it in a bundle with 3D land before the XL came out, there weren't many good games back then, but 3D land was terrific.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
3D Land was nice but after buying 3D World it honestly became pretty irrelevant to me.
I'm really hoping for a fully 3D Mario adventure on the handheld, and I think we've yet to see such a thing. Mario 64 DS showed it was capable for a true 3D Mario game on the go, but we have not seen one yet. 3D Land while yes is a 3D game it isn't really free roaming, and I felt like I was playing moreso a 2.5d game a good chunk of the time. I've kind of lost a bit of interest in the Mario franchise lately, the upcoming Mario Party doesn't interest me, and Mario Maker is something that should've been released years ago.
I'm waiting for a title worthy of competing towards Galaxy, which not only is one of my favorite Mario games but probably one of my favorite games of all time actually.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I thought 3D land's hybrid style gameplay was perfect for a handheld, and the actual 3D fit perfectly with that style, while I thought 3D world didn't fit so much on the Wii U, where I would have preferred a full galaxy style 3D Mario, and the lack of 3D made it unnecessarily harder than the 3DS game.
So yeah I'd have preferred a sequel to 3D land on the 3DS and a galaxy 3 or something on Wii U

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Maybe, but my OCD is driving me insanse when I for example see one PS1 game normal edition and other one platinum edition next to eachother. It needs to all be nice and black labeled. Expecially if it is game from same series. It pissed me off so much that I had Crash 1 black label but Crash 2 platinum. So glad I got rid of that. I don't mind paying extra as long as I feel better and not pissed off.Rayfist wrote:@OCG

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I can confirm I did not get happy after what Nintendo did to the early buyers of the 3DS like me that slapped us with placing a big price cut in the systems few months later and the worse is that this never happened before so it is something we couldn't have predicted either. I still think we deserved a eShop balance refund than equal (old) games for everybody because tastes are not the same for everybody. I was interested in the new console at the time anyway and I had a chance to grab it so it was what I did in the time. I did not repeat the same mistake with the Wii U so I did not get it in release but waited more time. It was a great decision because I caught a post-Christmas promotion exclusive to my country where Media Markt was selling the Wii U cheaper than in other shops and for 5€ more you could take NSMBU with you without paying full price for the game. Even like this the console plus the game got much cheaper than the console itself in release.

@Rayfist
What the eff? Super Mario 3D Land did not feel grounded to a 2.5 gameplay style. Sure, it's not as free roaming as 64, Sunshine, or Galaxy, but the game was not linear as you say.
Also, did anyone else get their Flipnote app yet? I did.
