I think Picture City will be back. Not sure, because it doesn't fit in the time-travelling storyline.

Quite correct. Those type of fights are a lot better. They require more creativity from the player's side than these did.

Who talked about time-traveling? o_O The story involves Rayman entering various magical paintings, Picture City is very likely to come back. Also, a western level would be great, I just loved Chasing for a Dream.

Her existence adds a new dimension to Teensy society.
Yeah, she's about as present as Smurfette. Other than the fact that she has the exact same powers as the other Teensies.

I’d rather they lay off the desert environments for a while.

Speaking of that, TLoTLD music was amazing, but it feels like it almost didn't quite fit the environment. At least the first part of Chasing a Dream doesn't, since that piece has been around since 2010, they probably just wanted to use it somewhere.

I thought it was about time-travelling when we saw medieval castles and greek things. Still, if it was about mytic ages, I'd want them to try future and egyptian themed levels.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one that thinks this. I remember the trailer where that song was played for the first time, it showed some kind of desert with sunset in the background, something like that, and all of the characters running, it was beautiful. Adding western music to a cementery-themed level is...well...weird.

The combination of Morricone pastiche music and subterranean graveyard environment was one of the very best parts of Rayman Origins.

Would you have preferred some generic spooky Halloween music?

Ugh, these kind of tracks make me sick. Angry Birds had a try at doing a remix of the main theme with a Halloween take. I really don't like any of the TWO tracks they made.

I wouldn't expect a "generic spooky halloween" song from the development team of Rayman Origins. Remember "Nowhere to Run"? that song fits perfectly with the level in comparison to "Chasing for a Dream", it's spooky, mysterious and melancholic. I can't see the "generic" anywhere in that song. The song actually tells you that you're in a forgotten land, populated by death and sadness... the other song, although is epic, says "Rayman meets Clint Eastwood".

Sounds like what you really want to play is Crash Bandicoot 3.

That track Drolpiraat called ‘Nowhere to Run’ always makes me think of the Magician – it’s as if the whole level is a strange eulogy for him. His presence looms over the proceedings. When I mentioned ‘generic spooky Halloween music’, I was not referring to this track, but to the sort of music commonly encountered in stereotypical graveyard- or Halloween-themed game levels. ‘Nowhere to Run’ draws just as much influence from Morricone’s work as ‘Chasing a Dream’.

No. I didn't say it didn't fit well, I meant that... here's an analogy: red and orange look nice together side-by-side already, but if you put a blend between them, you suddenly have something even more amazing. That orange/red is the music. Now stick that orange/red in the background of a tropical setting (the environment), you have a nice sunset, but does it look quite right? Try blending the shading and lighting of the sunset with the rest of the setting, and boom, utter perfection.

The music fit very well with the level out of chance almost. If they adapted the music slightly (even as little as some of the instrumentation) to actually subtly match a bit of the environment around it, then it could have been even better.

I think the thing that gave that "zombified cementery feeling" to "Nowhere to Run" were the singing grannies (you know... "BABBIIIIII..... BABBIIII BABBIII BABIIIIIIIIIIII... HYAHAHAHAHA!"). Sometimes small details make a song fit perfectly, for example, the Moskito's theme song: it's influenced by spain's bullfights and it's iconical music, including the well known "OLE"'s, mixed with Russia's "HEY HEY!" and claps, and then you can hear the voice of the ancient monks, singing along with the music. Why is that moskito related? easy, just add a crazy kazoo and that's it. I LOVE Chasing for a Dream, but I wish it had more details like that. You're only able to hear them at the end of the level, when the suffering vocals bring company to the lava themed room.
