Not to worry, it was Christian. Perhaps you will only puke on one continent now?

Baptist is a certain subdivision of Christianity that is based on utter closed-mindedness.RayTunes wrote:Not to worry, it was Christian. Perhaps you will only puke on one continent now?

I'm not really sure. I don't think they are because of their original history.iambored2006 wrote:Baptists are Protestant, right?
You might want to take a read of this. There's one thing I notice instantly, even though it may sound slightly biased: Hard-believers in Christianity (those who let it run their life) have a certain way of typing where they use capitals CONSTANTLY to EMPHASIZE a point, and they start putting everything else down that stands in their way, along with purposefully, making everyone else sound like scum. See for yourself:
http://www.ais-gwd.com/~cdevans/Baptists.htm
http://www.pbministries.org/Theology/Ch ... stants.htm
http://bible-truth.org/BaptistHistory.html
http://nonprotestantbaptists.com/
It's all in the form of writing. It's very snobby, and these are just four quick links I found on the first page of Google when searching "baptists protestants."

Re: Religion – your views
This reminds me of a joke I encountered in 'Heidegger and a hippo'. Unfortunately, I only have the Hebrew version, so I'll do my best to translate it-
One day I walked on a bridge and I saw a man standing on it's edge, preparing to jump. I ran to him and said "Stop! Don't jump!".
"Why not?"
"There are so many things worth living for!"
"Like what?"
"Well... are you religious?"
"Yes."
"So am I. You see, we already have a lot in common, let's talk about it. Are you Christian or Buddhist?"
"Christian."
"So am I! Are you Catholic or Protestant?"
"Protestant."
"So am I! Episcopal or Baptist?"
"Baptist."
"No way! So am I! Are you a Baptist from the Church of the Lord or from the Church of God?"
"A Baptist from the Church of God."
"So am I! Are you a Baptist from the original Church of God or from the one founded in the reformation?"
"The reformed one!"
"So am I! From the 1879 reformation or from the 1915 reformation?"
"A Baptist from the Church of God from the 1915 reformation."
"So die, dirty infidel!", I said and pushed him off the bridge.
And here's the shortened version-
It seems as if the most terrible experience in the life of a man is when he must murder a loved one because he is the devil. (The loved one, that is.)
So, how was my translation? Was it readable?

Thanks!RayFan9876 wrote:It's very well translated and quite funny.
To me, the most important thing is sticking to the source, and sometimes I do mistakes because of it. I'm always practicing my translating skills so that, if by any chance, I'm stuck in Israel and I'm short on cash, I'll have a job as a translator. And maybe I'll translate Arabic when I know well enough...

Translating Polish jokes would be a problem. If you want I can try so. It would be Off-topic but, meh, 1 post ain't a problem

You guys should check out the Christian forums, you can read about what music you can watch without being evil. They aren't sure if God allows Coldplay, so i'll just have to sit there for the Devil and God to stop arguing about who will take me.

I've heard this story about Ozzy Osbourne that when he first found out that some people consider him a Satanist, he was really sad all day. Or was it Robert Plant...?

God not allowing Coldplay? Now I'm angry at this god. I was actually referring to the phrase. I simply google imagesed it.
Re: Religion – your views
I decided to move our conversation to this topic, seeing that Hunch wasn't too pleased.
that the world is an awful place full of drugs and chaos?
I will never hail for such a thought, no matter what religion it is, or whatever new reason for the existence people come up with.
Calm down, I can't even follow you, it went from FUUUUCK!!! to Zeus raping. As for Jesus, he made my life in America even worse then it already is. I suppose the lord has a ''good intents'' for it? I suppose the good lord had a good intent making all of those innocent people die? Did the good lord intent for World War, raping, kidnapping, murder, depression, hatred, madness, chaos, violence, and for Bill fucking O'Reilly to lie to dumb people (Who are probably dumb because the lord intents so)iambored2006 wrote:FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Christianity isn't a representative of all religions!!! Why can't you get that?! Is your head really that thick that you can't get a simple sentence?! You can find lots of people, billions in fact, that aren't Chrstians and guess what? They are religious. Does that mean they're Christian? Probably, because if you're religious then you must be a fucking Christian. I mean, there aren't any other religions! Just Christianity! The moment Christianity was born, religion was born. Why? Because they are one! Christianity and religion are two words that have exactly the same meaning! All those religious bastards are retarded! They don't obey the bible, the sacred book of religion, and so they must die in religion's hell. All religions have a hell concept in them because they are all Christianity! In Christianity, a tall bearded guy who looks like Zeus fucks a whore called Maria in her huge pussy and she gives birth to the biggest douche in the world: JESUS! Jesus is religion. All religious people bow every Sunday to his rotting body on an ancient torture and execution device. The bad Jewish atheists are to blame for his murder.
RELIGIOUS PEOPLE OF THE WORLD, ALL HAIL JESUS, OUR MIGHTY SAVIOUR!!!

Re: Religion – your views
Did you really manage to miss my point?! Well, I can't blame you because, thanks to you, I am now cuckoo.
Notice how every criticism Raytunes brought about religion has been about Christianity. He hates religion because he comes from a place with the most messed up religion, Christianity. It doesn't matter if other religions have other things to offer. It doesn't matter if some religions preach love and peace and their adherents actually abide by these laws, they aren't Christianity!
Now, I want you, Raytunes, to bring me one criticism you have against a religion that isn't Christianity. Oh, does that confuse you? Well, just so you know, there are other religions besides Christianity. Maybe that'll help you pick.
Edit:
Edit 2: I almost forgot your most important sentence, Hunch-
Ah, yes, sorry I forgot. Europe is the center of the world, and therefore more than 3 fourths of the world's history is just something to be ignored when talking about religion. Obviously, you must ignore Islam, because it doesn't matter if there are more than one and a half billion adherents worldwide, because it's not Christianity. Does it matter that Hinduism precedented Christianity by thousands of years and is most likely the oldest still active faith system? No, because it doesn't play an important role in history! Sure, it has affected the world's second most populous country more than anything else did, but it's not Christianity. Judaism is the source of the world's biggest religions, and it is most likely the first truly monotheistic un-pagan religion, but because Christians and Muslims both believe in the "old" testament and their own holy books, it doesn't exist anymore. It's a part of Christianity, BTW, so that means that if some douchey priest fucks a child, the Torah's to blame. If millions of people die because of holy wars, the Torah's to blame. If the grossest intolerance today comes from Christians and Muslims, the Torah is obviously to blame. But wait, the Torah is the book of Judaism. If that book affected history so much, how come Judaism isn't the most important religion? Because the Torah is in fact a Christian invention. Those bastards, the Christians, with their old testament and new testament, what are they planning next?! We, as atheists, must stop religion. Religion has brought the world nothing but trouble from the very beginning, two thousand years ago. Look at how pathetic those religious people are, bowing to that corpse. Those religious people disgust me.Hunchman801 wrote:Christianity has played a more important role in history than all the other religions combined over the last two millennia so I don't find it overwhelmingly hard to conceive why it used as the archetype of religion. Moreover, most of the attacks against Christianity can be extended to the other two major Abrahamic religions, in spite of your claims that Judaism is so different. On that note, you are welcome to justify yourself.

According to Judaism, the source of Christianity, God isn't invisible nor is he a man. For god to be invisible he must be physical. He is not physical in Judaism. you can't attach such a word to him. He is not a man or a woman. God has no gender, for he is not a living thing. He doesn't live in the sky, he is all around us, and nowhere. He can't live because he can't die, because he is not an organism. The stories about god living in the sky are a mixture of a metaphor from Judaism and the ancient Greek religion. He doesn't "watch" everything you do, because he knows and made you do what you do. But, although he knows what you'll do, you can still change it. Carlin refers to the ten commandments, which by the way don't consist of ten things you must not do. That is common knowledge, and that fucktard dares talk about religions without knowing it. I'll bet he never opened a bible. God has more than ten things he wants us to do and not do, but they only apply to Jews. And have you ever read the ten commandments? Oh, god doesn't want me to murder? Well, fuck that, I'll be an atheist. And if you are a Jew and you don't want to do these things, guess what? You go to hell. Oh, wait, Jews don't believe in hell, so how is that even possible?! Hell is Christians ancient technique to make people afraid of not believing. And when have you ever seen a Rabbi forcing some Jews to give him money for religious purposes?! I have been a Jew all my life, my whole family consists of observant Jews, and guess what? We have never, ever, EVER been asked to give money for a religious cause. We have donated to synagogues out of our own free will. And no one asks us to donate money in the Sabbath, because money shouldn't be touched in Sabbath. Does that mean that if you go to the synagogue in a regular day, they will ask you to donate money or leave? No, because that's not how Judaism works. And another thing- Jews don't care if you're a Jew or not. Unlike Christianity, where if you dare not believe in Jesus you go to hell, in Judaism the gentiles are free to do almost (look up the seven laws of Noah) what they want. Christianity is probably the most missionary faith there is. I saw one missionary Jew in my life, and that Jew will probably stop this profession with his now broken nose. Do you want me to count how many Christians have tried to convert me? Oh, wait, it's too much to count, because they all care so much about my soul.RayTunes wrote:“Religion has convinced people that there's an invisible man ... living in the sky. Who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer, and suffer, and burn, and scream, until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you. He loves you and he needs money.”
― George Carlin
Edit:
You know what, you're right, I shouldn't have used the word atheist, but it is my opinion that because he is an atheist, he doesn't understand them. Maybe there are some atheists who can understand what I'm talking about, but the reason he doesn't is his hate to religion.Tobbe wrote:No, you didn't. You said he wouldn't understand because he is an Atheist, thereby implying that you have a reason to believe that Atheists can't understand spirituality. Now you attempt to squirm away from defending your posistion. I suspect this is because you have no defense. It's up to you to convince me otherwise.iambored2006 wrote:How can I be wrong? Raytunes stated that he doesn't think they believe, I said I understand them as a believer and therefore think they do believe, and so I said he wouldn't understand it. There is no right or wrong in this situation.
Edit 2: I almost forgot your most important sentence, Hunch-
I have pointed out some differences between these religions, and I can point out dozens more. Hunch, you don't live a Jewish life. You don't study Judaism 18 hours a week. I have studied Christianity extensively and can tell that these religions are so far apart that without the help of history, you wouldn't think they had any connection. The biggest difference is that Judaism is a monotheistic religion while Christianity, at least in some of its denominations, is a polytheistic religion. I am eager to hear what you have to say on the subject.Hunchman801 wrote:Moreover, most of the attacks against Christianity can be extended to the other two major Abrahamic religions, in spite of your claims that Judaism is so different.
