I haven't played it in a while, but IIRC they give you upgrades.

Whats the lore behind it

I don't know much Rabbids lore (Rayman lore is hard enough to make sense of :mrgreen). I guess in the first game, Rayman was having a picnic with baby Globoxes, then they just kind of kidnapped them and imprisoned Rayman. I don't really know if there's a real story behind it.

In the GBA game I believe it's stated they want revenge for being treated poorly in the past.

I don't recall any differences other than the lighting, the room looks kind of purple, where it looks red/orange on PC. I think Xbox did look similar to GameCube though.

Interesting. The GameCube version seems to be an earlier release, but it's kind of strange now that you mention it.

Quite a lot of other aeras also have color changes
