I say yes. Don't discourage him from translation, I want to finally read this book.

I think it will be, in the same way that scanlations of manga are okay. When Pix'n Love release the book English, it might get a little hairy, but since that won't be a whole from now, I think I'm in the clear

You do realize he will have to stop if Motormike asks for it, don't you?
I don't really want Pix' to charge a pursuit against my favourite forum

It depends on the French law for translating already-licensed content. I don't know a lot of things about it, ubt it shouldn't be as harsh as laws for manga content.
Digital Mozart wrote:I think it will be, in the same way that scanlations of manga are okay.
First, it's probably okay, but it's because it's not something which is happening a lot in this context.
Second, scanlations are okay only in specific situations. Especially, french scanlations of already licensed mangas are prohibited now, even if they haven't been published yet and just got released in Japan. If you are not French, maybe you don't know that, but I'm warning you: French translations of manga scans are forbidden if their license of publication is owned by a company in France, even if French translations haven't been released yet in stores.

You are right. If someone tries to stop him, he should definitely not put this forum at danger of lawsuit expecially since forum owner is French. However if he is not allowed to share this translation, he should distribute it privately to people who send him proof of owning original book since they are trusted members and true Rayman fans who would not damage sales of the book . For example. Me owning translation would be perfectly legal since I paid for original and showed support for product. Plus I swear I would not share this translation with anyone. Just how I never scanned book, I would not share anything that Motormike does not want shared. If Motormike reads this post, I want him to know how much I respect his work and that despite in general how I ignore copyright and how I am fighting for copyright system to be abolished in general, I do make exceptions in rare cases such as this book and the works of people close to me.
But in general, I think Digital Mozart just wanted to make translation for community and not for worldwide. Otherwise, he would just translate it without joining here and distribute it on many sharing sites. But he clearly wants to do this just to make community happy and has no bad intentions at all.

I'm okay with that and I knew that. But it doesn't mean this website is the right place to publish a translation of a book. You still only have to register in order to be able to read the translation : there are no "human" restrictions to stop you from accessing the translated content Digital is making.

Hi guys.
You know I'm the first person wishing for the book to be translated in english. I'm sorry that it's not gonna happen soon. Anyway,
I can't 'allow' a fan translation to be posted online and you already know why. However, if your translation is really good, why not propose it to the editor ? It might accelerate the whole english edition process... But please, don't do it and post it here.
And thanks Boomboleros7 for the MP.

So what's the difference between the normal edition and the collector's edition?

Quoting the wiki:
"The [limited edition version] contains an alternative white cover with a Rayman sketch by Michel Ancel and an exclusive 48-page book, "L'Histoire de Rayman: Les Artworks Oubliées", featuring never before seen Rayman Legends artworks."
The mini art book is a lot like the one that was bundled with the collectors editions of Rayman Origins.

The "Artworks Oubliées" is exclusively bundled with the collector's edition and owns neverseen before pictures of Rayman Legends.

Hey Motormike. Are there any news about official English release? Just wondering.

Hi guys.
Yeah, the collector edition featured an alternative white cover taken from R1 and "Les Artworks Oubliés", a 48 pages artbook showing RL previously unseen material.
@ocg : I have absolutely no idea. Don't know if it will happen at all...

(Maybe I'll know more after E3 Ubi conference.)

Aw what?! I was hoping this would at least get an English release.
And damn, I really need that Artbook. I'm dying to see more Rayman Legends art.

If the book doesn't get an english version I'll be the first disappointed... I'll ask again my editor after E3.
Sorry you missed the collector edition. I don't check on ebay often but maybe you can find it here, can't you?

Didn't you originally say that you are not interested in Collector's Edition because it is in French and that you don't care for extra content?

I never said that! And I would never diss an artbook of Rayman Legends. You are liar and a scoundrel.
