If I had a choice between a badly-written show where Rayman sits on a moving platform shooting zombie chickens, and a badly-written show where Rayman drives a car with Lac-Mac and Flips, I know which one I would take.

We can't compare it the other way, since we don't know the full story of the animated series.

If however RTAS were to cover the Rayman 2 story, that would have made an amazing TV series.

As much as you might like to imagine the animated series suddenly morphing into a grand storytelling masterpiece, I find this dream highly improbable considering the quality of the first four episodes.

If it helps, remember that what we have seen is the first third of the animated series. Compare it to the first third of Rayman 2.

I'm too lazy to read the topic so would someone be as kind as to explain me why everyone wants this thread to be a sticky while RTAS is regarded as terrible and isn't canon in any way ?

This thread is sticky-fied now, it just that as soon as the Animated Series fans got their way, the thread got invaded with people trying to explain that the series was terrible, and then there was this two page discussion about whether some lighting director bloke liked the series or not for some reason. Umm...yeah...

I can see why I was told when I first joined here that if you like 'Rayman: The Animated Series' , to only show your appreciation through PMs. You get eaten alive out heeaah!

Tbh there doesn't seem to be much to love about this series.

I voted against it. The ‘What do you want in Rayman 4?’ thread would make for a much better sticky, as that’s definitely a subject we’ll be discussing in the future. There are a few old R4 threads lying around that could be merged with it to give it a nice start.

No wonder why the series' writting/story is nothing related with the games at all. And people who are not fans of Rayman's games and/or don't know him at all would probably not understand anything, or finding everything completely random. I mean...



I think the story could evolve in an interesting way if it continued, and perhaps watching Rayman doing more magical stuff like fans do know and appreciate. Maybe we could also see more cameos? It was funny watching a Tonic Trouble reference.

But now that I know the true reasons for why the show was cancelled, I believe it was better like this.

So one day he got himself some Robopirates (how I don't know), killed Rigatoni, then went around killing and enslaving some other people. CUT TO RAYMAN 2.

I think the Animated Series is based on the early plot-line of Rayman 2 where the pirates were employed by some mysterious force that wanted to put everyone in an intergalactic circus or something of the sort. That adds up well, particularly considering there seems to be a large amount of scrapped content from the Rayman series in there (including Cookie, it would seem )

This is my theory, and unlike your first one, it makes sense.

The show wasn't that bad but I think it could've been better (story, jokes ETC)
For example at the Earthworm Jim show that was perfect it was true to the games and it even made sense (if they only did that with RATS)

Fanwank theories are no excuse for incoherent and careless storytelling. Both of the explanations you suggest require enormous leaps of logic in order to work.

I don't see any logical fallacies in the second theory.

I never said it was an excuse, I just said that that was my person fanon explanation. Also I don't think there's anything wrong with theory number 2.
