I was looking at the programming for Nickelodeon yesterday, just to see if I could watch some of the old shows I used to like, but I discovered a horrible truth:
The whole day, from 5:00 till 3:00 (the rest of time being filled up by kids' shows like Dora the Explorer) was filled up with series like Victorious, iCarly, Degrassi and more such nooonsense. There was one half-hour block of Spongebob. What happened to the iconic cartoons Fairly Odd Parents, El Tigre, Avatar, and - at night - Ren and Stimpy?!
Bah. That channel has gone down the swimmer.
Yeah, they completely quit showing reruns of all of their good shows - they'll only show reruns of older Spongebob episodes but that's only because Spongebob is their bitch. But they put a block on TeenNick that shows all of the older shows. Also, they released the other shows on DVD and while those DVDs can be hard to find you might stumble upon one eventually. I myself have season 1 of Rocko's Modern Life on DVD, and there's a season 1 and 2 DVD of Ren & Stimpy that I also have and it wasn't released by Nick, if I'm correct.
GNineify wrote:Nickelodeon is still obsessed with Spongebob, I see. They've created some crossover video games starring the most popular characters from their shows and in the box arts Spongebob is always the one who's mugging for the camera. He is the network's butt buddy.
Yeah, they're focusing all of their attention on Spongebob in the cartoon department and it's just sad. The show was supposed to end with the movie but they decided to make more episodes so they could cash cow it, but the original creator of the show left after the movie and all of the episodes after the movie are complete shite. That has to do with the fact that there's different writers. They cash cowed it since before the movie and made plenty of Spongebob games and had him - like you said - on the cover of those crossover games. I basically quit watching Nick when they stopped showing Invader Zim reruns on Nicktoons Network.

No, no it's okay to do so, this show deserves it. I really love the colors and the visionaries were top notch. And I must add the voice acting is really good, especially Lord Hater's head Peeper (blimey I forgot his name). Even when I watched the preview it gave me a smile and some laughs. Wander over Yonder is going to be a great cartoon. I anticipate for more episodes.

I honestly never heared of Wander over Yonder before , but that is most likely becasue I never watch Disney Channel due to terrible live action shows. Only thing I found good on Disney Channel was Fish Hooks and Phineas and Ferb, but I stopped watching it because it was a little boring lately.

Those two are okay in my opinion, Gravity Falls is my favorite modern day cartoon as of right now. Have you seen it before OCG?

Disney Channel has recognized that they should do more animated shows and they're slowly starting to throw those tween sitcoms away more and more (Not that they will completely disappear though). I've heard very good things about the studio where the animated shows are done. The artists working on the current Disney Channel cartoons have great support and are given full creative control. WOY, Gravity Falls and the new Mickey Mouse shorts are likely going to bring the channel back to what it used to be, or close to it. But Fish Hooks... eugh, Fish Hooks is another one of those tween sitcoms, just that it's in disguise.
Also, here's the preview episode of Wander Over Yonder!

God damn, Wander is just too damn adorable.
Ah how could I forget those new Mickey Mouse shorts! I love them. The art style is very nice I must say, having the classic design with a modern twist. My favorite short has to be Yodelburg.

What do you mean by saying that Fish Hooks is another one of those tween sitcoms, just that it's in disguise?
I found it much better then any of those terrible live action sitcoms. It was actually funny. Show actually made me laugh a couple of times and that is something none of those idiotic sitcoms did. I would not call Fish Hooks a masterpiece infact it is far from masterpiece but it is at least watchable. Only factor that I dislike is High School.

What I'm saying is that if Fish Hooks was live action instead of being animated, it would be no different from those tween sitcoms story-wise. The show may be animated, but that doesn't mean the plots and humor will be good. Just my opinion tho. I haven't watched that show much but from what I've seen, it doesn't click and doesn't have much uniqueness to provide.
