I agree. Those beautiful fungi were a necessity almost, and they've come into being! These environments are starting to capture the Rayman 2 atmosphere much better, and it actually makes me like the first Origins more than I did, because while this has a graphical style almost directly akin to that of Rayman 2's, it also has gameplay mechanics (seemingly) akin to that of Origins'. It feels like it's bridging that far-too-large stylistic gap that was left when Origins came out.

It's funny, I've been going back and forth between Crysis 3 discussion and RO 2 discussion, the two series' I avidly follow that both just had new media released today, and the things about Crysis 3 we're addressing g are incredibly similar: Origins was leaving us unimpressed, and Crysis 2 was leaving us unimpressed. Origins 2 seems to be bringing back the greatness of te series, and Crysis 3 seems to be doing the same. It's almost just like tossing a filter over over each forum to keep the arguments but shift the game wr're talking about. :P

It does looks like the Magician's hat to me.

At least the ghost-alike creatures now look interesting to me, and the caves with mushrooms. Don't these remind you the Caves of Skops and the Cave of Bad Dreams at a point?

Ok,new screenshots got my hopes way higher.Anyway, someone noticed Rayman's colours? He changed his colour shades for R3 and RO and now his R1 ones seem to be back :D I prefer him this way

Oh,and about the Magician's hat,it looks like it,yes! But there's more: it's more like R1's Magician's hat!

As we all know, Rayman Origins was not only the game to get the Rayman series back on track, but it was also effectively a massive advertisement for the UbiArt Framework. I'm guessing the sequel is now trying to show off even more features of the engine which may have been left out in the first one. It would make sense for them to be taking a new art direction in this game to try out some new features to see if they work or not. Just as long as it's as good as RO, hopefully even better, and we get a valid reason for why they're in the historical settings, I'm fine with this sequel now.

Did anyone notice that there were two YouTube videos embedded on this page? They were taken down by Ubisoft before I got a chance to watch them.

This game looks epic. I hope those are just low quality images, not low quality graphics.

Yup, should we take that as a confirmation? I've seldom seen a youtube vid being taken down by Ubi before.

Curses different looking video player, you have fooled me. I thought they were blip.tv videos. :| Oh well, no videos for us right now then.

Seems like a wait is in order...
I'm still going to reserve judgement until further details are given.

Not sure what they’re going for with the rectangular clouds, but it looks interesting. I wonder what Hunch will make of all this?

Does anyone think this deserves its own topic? Or should we wait until confirmation?

Rather strangely, I put up a video of me and a friend playing the first level of Rayman Origins and it was flagged for copyright by Ubisoft in regards to "visual elements in the video". Where as I uploaded a second video, and it didn't have a copyright claim. Seems a bit strange to me.

We’ll probably create a new thread and transfer all relevant posts to it soon enough.

They’re probably being paranoid thanks to the leak yesterday. I wouldn’t try to upload anything related to Rayman Origins during the next few days. (But then again, such videos might distract them long enough for more people to get a look at the genuine RO2 footage... it’s interesting to think about.)

I spotted the Purple Lum too. Very nice; we haven’t seen a proper one since 1999. Together with the R2-esque design of the enemies on stilts, this bodes well.

Teehee :mryellow: told ya, guys! Just because the first screenshots featured greek culture doesn't mean that the whole game would be based on greece
I see what Ubisoft is trying to do with the Rayman Origins series....

Rayman Origins= Rayman 1 because of the surreal environments such as gigant music instruments and living objects
Rayman Origins 2= Rayman 2? Because of the darker artstyle and the fantastic backgrounds based on forests.
Rayman Origins 3= MURPHY TURNS AGAIN INTO A SARCASTIC PIECE OF F*CK. :fou2:

If these screenshots truly were leaked against Ubisoft's wishes, then they're probably frustrated. They do have a history of leaking things on purpose though.

I like that concept, Sir-Geometry.

Nowadays it is pretty hard to keep things secret thanks to the internet.

The art director of RO in BAFTA awards told that in E3 there would be more demonstrations about the UbiArt Framework. There you have.

I did, and I tried to open them before posting about the link of the new pictures but Ubisoft blocked them. It is a pity since I was curious to see the videos. I guess we all have to wait.

That officializes everything, right?... if the screenshots were fanmade, ubisoft wouldn't care, but they deleted the videos very quickly, they're hiding something!! :mefiant: I'm not confirming anything, but I think that this situation is a perfect evidence of the existence of Rayman Origins 2 :P shall we resurrect the article made by haruka somedays ago?

EDIT: forget it, Spiraldoor did it already

The Magician's hat? Haha, but the Magician turned evil and got blown up in the last game! So that hat is either some kind of new magician (Who says there can't be more than one in the Glade of Dreams?) orrrrr a placeholder for something else as the game is still a work in progress. Bringing back the R1 Magician is too good to be true. :P But really, these new screenshots look much better than the first few in my opinion.
