That modchip installation would be much harder because you must solder the right pin or your ps2 dies. Though I would like to know the difference between Softmod and Modchip.

Softmod sucks and you can't play PS1 games with it. There was one homebrew for softmodded ps2 that could play ps1 games but I tried that on that shitty HD ComBo PS2 and it did not work.
Differance between softmod and modchip is that for softmod it does not use chip but just install some software Free McBoot, while modchip is just putting chip inside console.

Ok. For me I really don't care if there goes one more or one less chip inside as long as it will work. So you mentioned yout PS2 HD ComBo. Is there a difference by playing in HD or why does it get its name? I never heard of a HD ComBo until you uploaded the unboxing video. Is it such kind of remake or a genuie by Sony?

I don't know if HD ComBo is geniue by Sony or not. When I played it from HD (HD stands for Hard Drive not High Defenition), loading screens were less long, however as I said before, that thing had laser that was scratching discs and after what it did to my Crash Bandicoot disc, I destroyed that garbage. Thankfully Crash Bandicoot works on my normal PS2

If so then it isn't a geniue by Sony because almost everyone who has the Fat modell can install a Hard Disc. The installation on mine is much easier because I don't need a Swap Disc or so to launch the tool to format the HDD. And you store games and run them directly from the HDD without any disc? That's amazing! Also I am afraid of the optic laser of the fat modell because I used to own one years ago and it scratched all my discs and made them unreadable. RIP Rayman 1 white disc, Rayman 1 Platinum, Rayman 2 Platinum, Rayman Revolution, Rayman M, Rayman 3, Rayman 3 Platinum, Ratchet and Clank 3, Playstation 2 Demo disc.

I wonder how hard it scratched your black PS1 discs if it made them unreadable. Black discs are strongest abd most imune to scratches.

I've never heard or seen any proof of that. How are you sure?

One seller once told me long time ago that black thing on PS1 discs make them stronger, and my Crash Bandicoot disc survived massive circle scratch made by bad laser so I believe him. When Xbox 360 discs get circle scratch they stop working.

I don't think so because I had that Rayman 1 disc for playstation and it screwed up before the ps2 games. Then I bought another copy and it broke as well. Now I bought again Rayman 1 for Ps1 and it was in mint condition. No scratches and the case and manual were just like new. I inserted that Rayman 1 disc on the PS3 I have several times and boom lots of micro scratches does it have now, while my PS3 games still are mint without any scratches.

Maybe europian PS3 has bad laser for reading. Many things also depend on laser. My PS3 is NTSC and it never has problem like that.

Hm, so you should be, Rayfist, enjoy it!
Anyways, on the topic of consoles, I vaguely recall once seeing a 720P HD TV with built in PS2 somewhere, I'll see if I can find a link to it.

I don't think so. This is a retail one from Sony right? If they originaly put a region lock in their original PS2 console they might also region lock this.

Yes, but PS2 was made back when Sony had region lock policy. With release of PS3, their policy changed and they started making region free things. Since this TV is made only few years ago, it could be region free since it was made when Sony had new regional policy.
Off Topic: I finished Crash 2 LP, and now I wish I can have cool channel trailer.

I wonder if an 1080P upscale is worth?
