I'm currently working on a character for a “kind-of-cross-media” project. I can't say much, but it's intended to take place on-line over a long span of time. And hopefully there will be some interaction between the character and the audience. It's more or less a role-play work!
Here is the matter: as I'm writing him, I begin to wonder if I'm creating this character in order to tell a story, or just to enjoy playing him. He's nothing like me, pretty stupid and obnoxious, but friendly (unlike most of my characters) and spontaneous. And the more I try to make him casual and credible, the more I become… jealous?
Do I have a story to tell with him? Or do I just want to pretend being a funny extroverted idiot? Do I really find his jokes funny, or am I using fiction as an excuse to make them? Is it good writing that I seek, or just attention?
I really don't know. I will continue to write for now, I'll see where this is going. And as always, it's hard to judge one's own work. Maybe I will have to make it pre-read before going live. But I'm beginning to fear that all of what I've exposed here will be obvious to anyone knowing me and reading a semi-fiction about a likable looser.
Time will tell if this story is entertaining people, or just a comfortable disguise for me to use.
Haha, it reminds me the original creation of Incognito, I created a hateful character before I realised it was in fact the exacerbation of everything I was.
It is amazing to see all the points we have in common.

Tough one to answer. Our career paths are quite different, in fact mine is unfortunately stalling at the moment (not that it particularly bothers me). Perhaps it's to do with how I look, or how I act, or what I say. The relationship between me and the entire family seems to lack that satisfying click for some reason.

I think that's their job to hate you, hehe. But in all seriousness, as long as your partner is happy, I'm sure they're happy.

Yeah that's true. Although recently I came to the conclusion that they are naturally closed people, and I'm able to take some comfort from that. I don't really care anyway - a lot more could be wrong with my life so it's probably better to be grateful for the good aspects and cast away the little snags.

Welp, I saw Obama's speech last night, and I actually liked a lot of things he was saying - until actually looking back into his talk and realising it really is just bullshit. How can Obama honestly claim to see money in politics as a major threat and praise the TPP in the same speech? If Obama felt this way, or does now, he could easily be taking actions right now instead of indirectly going "hey maybe if bernie wins then...", starting with opposing a deal that's brought far left and right people to the same conclusion of it being a fucking awful, extremely pro money in politics concept.
I've wanted to like Obama but this really breaks it, he's ultimately just another bought politician who didn't take the necessary steps to prevent this all while literally admitting that the problem he's part of is damaging people. It's honestly just disgusting to be constantly fed straight up bullshit, it's genuinely offending to hear Clinton do this too and put it in such a "I'm here for the people, for you" manner when she's literally wall street itself. The climate is dying because of corporations and politicians aren't doing anything because they're bought by corporations, are we actually going to push an already irreversible threat against millions of people just because members of the elite rich still need more in their last few years? (The koch brothers are hitting their fucking 80's, why do they need a destructive pipeline for profits when they can spend 800 million on propaganda?).
There's absolutely no way to justify Obama's action, the TPP is the biggest most obvious middle finger to any concept of "for the people." The bought politicians, the scaremongering media profiting off it, the lobbyists, and the herd mentality of their voters, it's a massive problem that we can't afford to deal with in such incredibly crucial years for the climate. If Sanders isn't elected I don't want to think what four years of Trump will do, won't do, and whether we'll even have the option not to choose a bought politician in 2020. Climate change is already happening, but people just crawl up in a fetal position and point at ISIS, immigrants, anything to feel like the frustration can be marked with some simple concept of "this is evil and if we kill this all is good again", purely because of the continued greed from people who don't even need the money. It's the most incredibly depressing and backwards thing to think about to me, yet I feel like this will only be the herd mentality after Miami is already dealing with floods - And it's pretty shocking when you consider that already know scientists warn us of limited actions, meaning that by that time we'll be even more down the shitter.
And the worst part of it all is that this is just the US. Many nations are signing the TPP, eyeing the removal of proper net neutrality, and claiming they're productive by going to Paris and coming back with "if another nation doesn't spend on climate change we'll....look down on them ! O:" The people in office are maniacs, but it shouldn't be my job to say so.

I was planning on watching the address but got caught up in work and essays, oops
Anyway, I'm in total agreement with the bullshit going on in our government these past few years, like, is it possible for us to get a majority of senators and congressmen/women that aren't bullshiting, or a president with actual integrity? IMO by the time we finally get our generation in office, too much damage will have been done to both our country and the world.

Definitely, it's a really crucial time and we can't afford to put any of this off for four years. I'd argue that the TPP is one the most horribly fucked up, terrible proposals of the past couple years, and that's already getting through via Obama - now imagine a Clinton or Trump in office, and the likely possibility that 2020 might not even offer a Sanders candidate.

Why are you so obsessed with Jazz Jackrabbit licence? If you want new game so bad, make a non-commercial one yourself.

Silly mortal, George Lucas has no soul. If he had, he would have written actual characters in the prequels as opposed to brain-dead-automatons.

Did you contact them or did they see your work themselves? I do not understand you best.
