Rayman had a similar attack in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3, and I think he also had one in the GBA version of Rayman Raving Rabbids. Both of them are quite enjoyable but definitely sub-R1 sidescrolling platformers.
iambored2006 wrote:Edit: I wanted to ask something off topic- in R1, when you get a game over, do you return to the beginning of the game?
You have a limited number of lives in the game which can be increased by collecting life statues or Tings. When you die with zero spare lives left, you are faced with a screen where you can press any button to continue or allow the game to end (which sends you back to the title screen, meaning you have to restart from your latest save). You start the game with a limited amount of continues, and these cannot be regained when lost. When you have zero continues left, it essentially means that you’re sent straight back to the title screen if you lose all your lives, but no, you aren’t forced to restart the game.

And the use of continues only affects the score, right? (although from what I remember, there isn't any score system, is there...?)

Piranhas...?
Edit: Someone should add RO information and pictures in these articles- Plum (watermelon-head picture), Piranha, Cage (+medallion), and the strange thing that replaces the purple Lum in RO. Since there already are 2 articles in this subject (Flying ring and Purple Lum) and the creature which probably isn't a Lum in RO will have to have a different article, I suggest we merge these 2 articles and add the thing from RO (I know I should write all this in the wiki, but I really don't know where and I'd prefer if someone who's a professional would do those things.)

That's right. I like their simplicity design in Rayman Origins.

There’s no score system at all, unless you count the minigames (which record your best completion time). The use of continues affects what happens to you when you run out of lives, but nothing more.

It certainly looks like it. The image you took that section from also shows bigger, toothier, more traditional-looking piranhas with orange underbellies.

All of these things will be added to the wiki when one of us has the time. There’s no need to list elements that need to be added unless you spot something that nobody else has noticed. At the moment there isn’t a huge amount we can say about Origins’s enemies and objects, as we haven’t played the game yet.

Everyone's talking about these orange underbellied piranhas, but I don't see a thing. Do you mean this?-

By the way, Rayman Origins also won the Best E3 2011 Platformer award from Game Informer

The game won in that category both in IGN and Game Informer.

Deserved!
Not much competition this year though.

Yes, they look very like the piranhas in the other games.

RaySpola beat me to it
Also, iambored2006, could you please compress your images a little more when you attach them to your posts? A bunch of piranhas doesn't require 150 KB of disk space

Sorry, I'm doing the best I can to make the images weigh less, but that's one of the problems with having a mac

I just noticed that the recent trailer shows a glimpse of the Teensy wizard’s equivalent to the helicopter. We see him levitating in the Infernal Kitchen segment.

Good job... Anyone knows what is the red firey-thing?

I noticed it too, but I' wondering what type of "helicopter" will he use when he's not levitating...
I'm talking about that. (Also, did someone notice the lifebar?)

What part do you mean? Which video, can you post it?
RaySpola wrote:Good job... Anyone knows what is the red firey-thing?
Well, it can't be a red Lum since they're not needed, I'd guess it's a different kind of Lum, a new one.
About the lifebar, I already said, it's pretty strange because they implemented a different health system. Maybe it's a different mode, or even a 'nostalgia' world with references to different games...

There also is an article for the flying hooks in Rayman 3. However, those three will not be merged, as they clearly are different objects, even though they serve the same purpose.

I actually think there’s a strong case to be made that flying rings and Purple Lums are indeed the same object rendered under two vastly different art styles.
