Yes but here its a small community ( I say small because there is about only 40-70 people active ) so there is less of people posting and less of things to reply to. :) Also try to not double post, there is an edit button if you want to add something.
edit: Ironically, I almost double posted because I accidentally pressed twice on the post button.
Indeed we are a smaller community, but a great one at that. I feel like I know everyone here.
tuxdude143 wrote:Agreed. I'm Tons better at expressing myself on the internet than I am in real life. My social skills suck. Still, being an aspie is probably one contributing factor as to why people don't like me that much. It sucks.
I think what makes internet communication easier is that we have the ability to think things trough. Someone might say something stupid but in real life it may be said to you in situation where you can't take a minute to think about what the other person just replied and think of a good way to respond, resulting in you not getting to give a good argument against it. Internet communication isn't good for everyone though. Some people who are fragile or target in real life may use the internet to try and pretend like their someone else.

And, of course, on the web we can go to places where we share interests, and usually those people have some other things in common. The people here on RPC are nothing like the people on a cooking forum. And in real life RPC members and a cooking forum's members are mixed together.

Also personally, one problem with living where I live is that I can't really get into an internet relasionship because if they wanted to meet me in real life it would cost them a ton of money!

Same, I only have known most of people here for a month but it feels like I have known them for longer than that.

Well, if you believe it can work out its possible. I mean, the person doesn't have to pay all for themselves, you could also pay part of it but hey i'm not you. I have been in one like this for 7 months but had to end it because it became kind of a problem with me because when the person is in another country its even worse.

The Netherlands. That's specific enough I think.

One of my best friends is in an online relationship, so I get a privileged look at just how deeply unsatisfying they are. The whole idea makes me cringe a bit.

Again though it is difficult with internet relasionships as well. I mean for me anything to do with relsionships just doesn't work.

I had a girlfriend on runescape when I was 11. She was called memaw12 and was from Scotland, a mere year below me infact. Broke my little heart when she told me things weren't working out in game </3

Too specific! That place is the size of a pinhead.

Depending on how you go about it, it has the possibility to work out, though I don't know to what extent it can actually be considered a full-on relationship given how different they are from real-life ones. One thing is for sure, it's definitely no substitute.

For half the year I live in a mountain village with the closest city being a six-hour drive away. Good luck with that, placeholder web-based partner.

Betrayal is such a strong word. I've seen a few people here use it for situations where friends become acquiantances or change their personality to no longer match yours. This is not betrayal. It may feel like a stab in the back, but take it from me, when you are betrayed by one of your friends - I've been there - you feel much, much, much worse. Not because of the act of the betrayal. Usually, that's not even so bad, comparitively, and you'll eventually forgive them for the act itself. But the aftermath of what the act implies, for your trust in them, for your relationship with them, for their relationship between other friends of yours...
Some vile acts can leave groups of friends divided in half and it's horrible and nasty and not something you want to experience. Betrayal is a very sad thing to experience - don't take it lightly.

Wow that was a bit grim. Sorry guys - how about something light-hearted now?
tuxdude143 wrote:Other, like me are pretty much sprayed with girl repelant. They basicly repel away from me all the time. I hardly have any friends as well. Its difficult.
There are seven billion people living on this planet. There is only one you. Not all six-billion-ninehundred-ninety-nine-thousand-ninehundred-ninety-nine others will be able to be your friends. Not all of them you would even like as friends. More often than not, you will find that in a large group of people, there will be few who you'd like to be friends with - and when you find such a person, it's pretty much always the case that you will become friends. Keep looking! If you can't find any at school, find them outside of school!
---

I also don't get interested very often - these four love interests I mentioned are all spread out over 5 or 6 years. What's also true with me is that if I have a crush on someone/am in love with someone, I become completely oblivious to other girls romantically speaking. Perhaps that's a stupid thing and I should keep my options open, but I simply cannot.

Hehe Bzzit gamer girlfriends are the worst. :(
I once married over Flipnote to another user, which basically meant that my Shrooblord character and her cartoon representation of herself wore rings they had given each other, and we would draw them together if they'd be in one scene at the same time - but it was all a big laugh and just for fun of course.
Also, my best friend's character and my own married each other in co-op Fable if that counts. :P

Internet relationships are a valid form of finding your special someone.

That's all I will say on the matter.

I don't know whether or not you posted that because of me mentioning how I was betrayed, but yeah, that's exactly how I feel about it. I wouldn't wish betrayal onto my greatest enemy. It's that bad a feeling when it's genuine, like what I've had to experience over and over.

Ugh, yeah, I remember some of the zaniest users there when I played it in my younger years, many who seemed to pull that "looking for virtual bfs/gfs" and the like.

Internet relationships are a way, surely, but they often do require a lot of conditions that need to be met.

I'm going to talk about friendships in my case: I admit that the trips of plane to France aren't cheap, but it is also because I travel in one of the safest airline companies of the world (TAP). But when you really want to see someone, you really don't pay much attention to the costs. Clara is not just my best friend, she's a true bloodsister for me and is one of the fewest people in the world that does make me happy. It is incredible how similar we are and share many equal interests.

Whenever I went on Runescape, Master, I'd use all kinds of special chat commands to make my text go all explody and fireworky.
I never really played the game itself I don't think. xP

I'm interested though, Bzzit, when you'd think of her, how would you picture her? It's not like the Runescape persona's give that much definition of character...

Yeah, I remember all the neat little text effects.
I grinded quite a bit, I was relatively serious when playing it, though I just faded out and never looked back as I got older.

Indeed. If we never try things we deem as unrealistic we never live life the fullest, no? I actually read a magazine article recently saying you shouldn't ever do those things & that the drag of daily life is worth it because you get to stay in your comfort zone at all times. :boon: Sometimes the culture of my own country feels just as alienating to me as the US.
