I loved that new feature too, but what I thought really stood out was how many pirates there were.

I can tell that some were thrown in just for the sake of it though.. since they're stuck at really odd positions, which is still the reason why I think of Revolution as being comparable to SMod for Half-Life 2. Though, in an interview for Rayman 3, the developers did talk about how they wanted more fighting in Rayman 2, but it just never seemed to work out when they tried it with that game's simple shooting system... so they threw in curved punches.

The pirates were also smarter by far!
My face when the "army" appeared in lines to attack me...

I don't know. I saw that and instantly thought, "Oh, Galaxian.

*sigh*"
The pirates actually aren't that much smarter.. You can still leap past them all and skip the battles in most cases. They just have more fancy toys like homing missiles and flame throwers.
P.S.
The 4 Masks also kind of lose their charm in Revolution to me... take the "Lost Island" for instance.
In Rayman 2, you first go through this magical gate kind of sequence with the teensies (something I very sorely missed in Rev.)
"From here, you can enter other worlds. The trip will demand lots of energy."
In Rev., you kind of just get to the place by boat.
"Yeah! I'll take you to the lost island!"
"Okay then! Let's go!"
Hmmm... Kind of takes the magic away, yet again.
The video I linked to is from the DC version, which again is a little different, but definitely not as drastic as Rev. Oh yeah, and the pirates do have a few different moves as well.

The PS1 version changed the above sequence in an interesting way: instead of teleporting you to the Chamber of the Teensies and having to open a door there, the Teensies appear
in the Hall of Doors and open the doors for you
there (the four doors now in the Hall have pictures of the four masks on them). I found this change to be perfectly acceptable as an alternative to what R2 N64 presented us with.
~I do like that they brought back Moskito in Revolution and gave him a few lines...

Yes, that's fine as well.
But I still preferred Moskito (or Bzzit as he was known in Rev.) to be a sort of easter egg/inside joke/whatever have you like he was in The Great Escape or BGE. Just something that's kind of there without known purpose.

I actually prefer this way.
@Phoenixan: I guess, but "Aedis Raymanis" in BG&E was just going too far.

What do you mean going too far? lol Seemed to all fit right in to me. Especially with the fact that Ed is advertising for Starkos.
And there's HH, who's such a goofball when you first meet him.
A lot of the creatures in that game were pretty strange.

It wasn't going far enough. Moskito should be given his own spin-off game series.

Why is Moskito admired by so many people? Of course, I am no exception. I've been wanting this rank forever!

For me, it's nostalgic...
I just remember being about 8 at the time... I played the first game... and it's the first boss... beat him...
Then Moskito cries, and Rayman feels sorry for him.

Then you got to FLY ON HIS BACK in the next level!
HELL YES!

I have the exact situation.

He is by far the deepest and most complex character in Rayman 1.

I came very late to Rayman 1.

However, I played Rayman Junior Vol. 1, below the recommended age if I remember correctly.

Moskito has just had a hard life. There's a lot of trials and tribulations he has faced over the years.

Man, I love how the objectives in Rayman Revolution sometimes don't update, and they assume that you know where exactly to go.
