I actually like the direction of RO personally, and I'm also liking the direction of RL.
But I think I speak for a lot of people here when I say... I want the next Rayman game to have a more serious tone, similar to Rayman 2.

Hm, indeed, a game like Rayman 2 would be great indeed, but I think we've already discussed to death the low chance of something like that happening.

Well it would be good if Ubi splited Rayman into 2 series:
The 2D one and 3D one (Just like Mario did).. 2D should have wacky slapstick humor while 3D should be like R2
That way everyone and I mean everyone will be happy. Oh yeah and they must port Rayman 2 to Wii U

Well I guess Adsolutions fan game counts if we get it to be published, ya know if Michel is all like "hmmm, this shit is good you four should work for Ubi"
LOL! One can dream, that's for sure.
@OCG, as much as I wouldn't mind an R2 port, I do think there are far too much, but hey the more the merrier I suppose.

I'd love for Ad to achieve that, I've been following the exploits of many here prior to my joining, I can't remember exactly how far back it was, but I can remember seeing the initial footage of RoTD, and look how far we've come since then.
@OCG, I'd rather not have the series be segregated in such a manner, that kind of divide isn't what Rayman is about.

I'm honestly amazed at how far AD has came with ROTD, I hadn't a clue he'd go this far, now that's some true ass dedication.

I'll go as far to say that it's actually rather inspiring, seeing Ad come this far, and I do hope his dream is realised.

I think Ad will have great future honestly.
Also if wikipedia is correct, Michel was 17 when he joined UbiSoft

The one thing I always found most cartoony about Rayman is when Robo-Pirates die. In fact, most of the comic relief in Rayman 2 is pretty cartoony. For the rest, I agree with what you went on to say.

Funny thing is, I was just recently considering how easily some members' videos have been found on YouTube, like Haruka's posting of that one artist's video clip, or WeshKanapesh who recently got contacted by someone who was supposedly from UbiSoft. If such obscure - forgive the term I use here, but you'll agree with me that these videos haven't exactly been advertised and also these YouTubers don't have, say, a million followers - videos can be found so relatively quickly, I'd think that Ad's countless videos on RotD must have been found years ago by now. If, then, the company hasn't strolled in with their cease-and-desist (which would be horrifying), I guess that means they're condoning it ... for now. I wonder where this'll go, but I do very much hope to see RotD in its finished glory, whether or not it gets published by Ubi. I don't only want that for my own personal pleasure and experience, but very much so for Ad's - we all realise how much that would mean to him.

I think it's crazy to put real time and effort into something based on intellectual property over which you have absolutely no control and just cross your fingers that the rightful owners don't shut you down. If I had similar talent and motivation I'd make something that was really mine.

They can't shut him down. Worst that could happen is that he wont be able to publish game, and sell it for cash, but nobody can force him not to make it for himself.

I did the same before joining. I read the RoTD thread a lot prior to joining and honestly if I never had I probably wouldn't be here in the first place. I knew about this place for awhile before I started reading the RoTD thread, but PC never interested me much until I learned that Ad was making the most kick-ass fan game ever and there was a thread about said game.

That, however, won't happen. The silly nature of Origins and Legends is now what Rayman is. If there were to be a 3D Rayman, I think many including myself would be disappointed that the game we've been waiting so long for would come with this approach as well.
Honestly, the future of Rayman seems a bit of mystery to me. I think a third 2D platformer would overdo it and I don't believe they have any intentions to do so. A 3D platformer though? I'm not sure. I can imagine the current Rayman being made into a three dimensional world with fast paced platforming, but I really doubt we'll ever see something like Rayman 2 or 3 happen.

Sadly that is how things work with gaming. Nintendo is only exception because they are using same Mario style without drastic changes in Gameplay since forever. Everyone else changed. Some changes were good, some bad but they happened.

Thing is, there's something special about some IPs that makes me (and others too, obviously) want to create more based around them.
I do also put effort into things that are actually mine, but using someone else's idea as a foothold can sometimes bring a spark of creativity you may not have found otherwise. It's like those old campfire songs people used to sing as bards that anyone and everyone gave a little twist of their own to, and as such created many of the most intricate and sometimes bizarre stories we have today. People should support creativity, even if it's based on somebody else's work. And I know how controversial that may seem, but think about it.
