kinda off-topic as of now, but relevant to the game.

Rayman species, what they call a "thingamajig" is actually an attempt to clarify a species for him (cuz him unique etc, if we look away from tarayzan and those guys).
I think thingamajig is wordplay for "thing of magic".

Only a hypothesis though ^^

Michel Ancel talks about Rayman Origins here :)
I dunno if it's been posted before.

I wasn't listening that much but I think I heard Ancel mentioning that Christophe Héral made the music in a few days.

Gameplay is shown, with Michel Ancel himself playing it ( only a small bit at about 10 minutes ). Health bars and everything are included. He shows the Ubiart tools in action in-game, and it looks really easy ( time for another Rayman Designer? :D )

I'll keep editing this post while I'm watching.

EDIT 1 -> AWESOME!! He says they're going to try to give us free access to the UbiArt tools!! =D ( right before 14 minutes )

EDIT 2 -> At about 21 minutes in, he talks about BG&E2, which he wants to make with as little people as possible, but in 3D. He'll take his time to make it perfect. It will also feature an interactive storyline, which means things will have different outcomes, etc. and that takes more time. I have to stop listening now :( I'll continue listening in a few hours.

EDIT 3 -> LOL I can't stop listening now. He said that after Rayman 4 was cancelled, he stopped making 3D games ( only BG&E2 is left now ) and went back to 2D.

EDIT 4 -> While I'm watching, it should be noted that on the site of this event ( http://www.montpellieringame.com/confer ... phe-heral/ ) it mentions that Christophe Héral is making the music for "two secret projects from Ubisoft for end 2010 and end 2011". End 2010 = Rayman Origins and End 2011 = BG&E2? :D Please let it be true :D

EDIT 5 -> Haha, some little kid asks him if he's going to make a 3D Rayman for PS3. Everyone laughs. I don't understand his answer though. I think he said that it will come, but it's going to take some time.

EDIT 6 -> It's finished. Back to that exam I have to study for tomorrow...

I haven't watched the video yet, but it sounds amazing. Someone should put it on YouTube. It would be good for it to reach as wide an audience as possible, and I don't think many people watch videos on sites that aren't YouTube.

I wish they would just speak english...

Well, it's being played for indeed VERY short on the laptop. Maybe that's the first hint of a PC version for the game? :)

Can someone translate this? If Héral's doing the Rayman Origins music then it doesn't mean what I think it means.

I like the music in the trailer, so I hope whoever composed it does the rest of the game too.

"Rayman Origins", Michel Ancel's next game (UbiSoft) and bam, there it is, the production has begun, music recorded by the Star Pop Orchestra by William Flageollet, orchestrated by Mathieu Alvado.
I think I understood it wrong. In the video. They speak kinda fast. Can one of the Frenchies help? Please?

EDIT -> Just watched that part again, and heard the same. Strange...

Well it was never mentioned as a god though.

As concerns the conference, Michel Ancel does say there will be new Rayman games in 3D (around 4:30). I'm not gonna have time to watch the whole video, at least by Thursday, but you can ask me if there is something Droolie doesn't understand.

A transcription of the entire conference would be much appreciated by many members, but it would probably have to be a collaborative effort.

Here's the HP in screenshot for those that can't be bothered to watch the video.

Really impressed with how 3D they made the forest bit look.

spiraldoor wrote:Are you saying that the number of Yellow Lums that Rayman came across was exactly equal to the number that formed the Heart of the World by pure coincidence?
Yes. Convenient coincidences occur often in video games. In Pikmin, Captain Olimar only finds the three types of Pikmin that he would require, even though the ending of Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 proved that there were much more. In most games, health items (e.g. red lums) are often found where they would be needed most, such as boss fights or at the end of long levels. So with this being said, it's pretty easy to believe that Rayman would only find the 1,000 lums that he would need to restore the Heart.

Fantastic! :P

But doesn't that kind of contradict this?

I like it. It looks like R1's lifebar.

It says in the intro of Rayman 2 that the heart of world has been scattered in 1000 lums or something like that.

I haven't played R1 much so I'm used to the lifebars in Rayman 2 and 3. I can get used to this though. It's just the looks of it that bother me more. It's kind of plain.

I'm just used to busy interfaces. Most probably because of Guild Wars... just look here: http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c137/ ... 1277144886

Don't worry, the lifebar will probably change. It's still a test version, very incomplete ( as he said himself I think ).
Also, did you notice the "Cheat Mode: ON" thingy? That will be something I'll need to look for when the game is released. :P

I'll try to translate a bit more tomorrow when I get back from my ( last! woohoo ) exam. ;)

Sometimes I wonder if they even know how big the Rayman fanbase is.

bitch.

I have to get myself a wireless router before long... :( suppose that's what you get from a 2D game by a team of 5 people about a series hardly anyone gives a shit about. But hey better than nothing!!! :D

Yes, that was a nice touch in Rayman 2. (He starts out with the normal :) face next to the life bar, but once he gets below 1/4 health, his face changes to a miserable looking one, it actually reminds me of the first three Starfy games where the face next to the health bar is a :D at first, but once you get hit, it changes to a :|, and when you are at 1 hp, it changes to a tired looking one)
