Re: Future Rayman games
I will mention my idea again, which is 3D gameplay but with 2D animated cutscenes.
Re: Future Rayman games
THE DEATH AND RISE OF RAYMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All jokes aside, I would love to see a Rayman and Crash Bandicoot crossover, although I seriously doubt this idea is original.

2D platformer with 3D graphics, like in Klonoa.GNineify wrote:I will mention my idea again, which is 3D gameplay but with 2D animated cutscenes.

Ah, like in Darkspore:GNineify wrote:I will mention my idea again, which is 3D gameplay but with 2D animated cutscenes.
I thought it worked really well. I like the style, but I'm more fond of 3D cutscenes, just because of the extra polish they sometimes show off, but especially in Rayman games, because they exactly don't show off pre-rendered polish, but stay true to the way the game looks while playing too, and so not break the emersion.

*immersion.
Transformers Prime is 3D animated, but it switches to this really nifty 2D style for flashbacks, I really like it:
I think 2D and 3D work well if applied correctly and with good context.

Re: Future Rayman games
I think when it comes to Rayman, a cutscene similar to this flashback one from Kung Fu Panda 2 would be wonderful. It was one of the reasons why I loved the movie, it was really beautifully done despite being a sequel. Spoiler warning though if you care about these.

I have to agree with this. I loved the style and the movie.GNineify wrote:I think when it comes to Rayman, a cutscene similar to this flashback one from Kung Fu Panda 2 would be wonderful. Great, thanks!Master wrote:*immersion.
I agree, GN, that 2D style of Kung Fu Panda 2's flashbacks was really cool. I could see how something like that could fit very well in a Rayman game, if done correctly. But maybe not all cutscenes should be that way - it would feel... off. Just imagine the Pirate Ship scenes in 2D. It'd make the events feel more like a story that is being told, than something that is actually happening right before your eyes at that moment.
Re: Future Rayman games
Have you played Epic Mickey? It had similar cutscenes. They fit very well, but its probably because the whole game is cartoonish.Shrooblord wrote:Great, thanks!Master wrote:*immersion.

Slightly off-topic, but:
Emersion is actually technically the antonym for immersion, if we go according to ye prefix laws of olde.Shrooblord wrote:Great, thanks!Master wrote:*immersion.

Re: Future Rayman games
Ok, now that Legends is released, we can discuss about Rayman's future. I hope for another similar game to complete UBIArt Trilogy. I hope Rayman wont become "new Crash Bandicoot" and stop making games now. They could also either do R1 HD remake or remade R1 in 3D with R2 gameplay.

"Ubi-art trilogy" hmmm..... gameplay would need to be changed up for me a lot, couldn't bear it if rayman became the next "New" super mario bro's.OldClassicGamer wrote:Ok, now that Legends is released, we can discuss about Rayman's future. Re: Future Rayman games
I dunno if that will happen. In one way I see it as completion of a trilogy like your saying, but on the other hand I could see a loss of interest in Rayman if a 3rd game like this was put out. Unless they can come up with something really, really clever.OldClassicGamer wrote:Ok, now that Legends is released, we can discuss about Rayman's future. People seem to always keep hoping for these things that will obviously never happen. I want a 2D version of Half-Life with Princess Peach as the main character made by Rareware which has to be purchased by Atari which wants Sega to help them work on the brand new inclusion of Mario Party minigames but that'll never happen. And I've even send them an email saying I know more people who would like to see that.OldClassicGamer wrote:They could also either do R1 HD remake or remade R1 in 3D with R2 gameplay.

Re: Future Rayman games
If they do want to continue using the Origins formula, to make a Ubi-Art trilogy, I'd personally like it if they shook things up a bit more, lest we fall into the same pitfall as the NSMB series, this 3rd installment could differ from Legends like how Prime 3: Corruption differs from Prime 2: Echoes, it keeps a similar formula, but adds new and fun means of getting through areas. I'd also like it if they'd tone down streamlining the levels.
Re: Future Rayman games
Why would that be bad? "New Super Mario Bros" is a really good series.dartofthedavros wrote:"Ubi-art trilogy" hmmm..... gameplay would need to be changed up for me a lot, couldn't bear it if rayman became the next "New" super mario bro's.

Re: Future Rayman games
It's a decent series, but I think Ninty are milking it a little now.
(NSMB that is).

Re: Future Rayman games
Well, they do tweak every new game a little bit and plus they are also releasing other Mario titles that are different (Kart, RPG games, Sports games). But I would like another 3D Mario game with Galaxy gameplay. Don't get me wrong 3D Land gameplay is also good but it is maybe a little too linear.

Re: Future Rayman games
I'm just fucking tired of Mario. EVERYONE PRAISES HIM LIKE GOD YET HE REUSES THE SAME EXACT GAMEPLAY FOR EVERY SINGLE 3D GAME SINCE SUPER MARIO GALAXY AND EVERY SINGLE 2D GAME SINCE NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. TRY SOMETHING NEW! At least the Sonic games had big differences, like Sonic adventure 2 having a COMPLETELY different engine from Sonic adventure 1, and not the SAME EXACT ANIMATIONS WITH THE SAME EXACT FUCKING SHIT YOU SEE IN EVERY MARIO GAME!
Re: Future Rayman games
He reuses same gameplay because it is good. If something is not broken why fix it? Nintendo knows that people like Mario a lot because of good gameplay so they only do a small tweaks in every new game, while keeping the formula same. Sonic games have differences I must admit and I like that series too. Mario is one of those franchises that will never end as long as people keep buying games. As for using the same formula, same can be said about CoD and people buy that too. Then again, Mario and CoD are the most selling games ever, so it is prooven that using same formula is going to sell the game good.
