shall we sing the reveiws are paid to review with good ratings song for you sergio?
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Colo(u)rs is definitely not as bad as the others. It's just the tedious mother of fuck 2D platforming that appears way too often.sergiomonty wrote:People at Destructoid hated Sonic Colors, to the point of giving it a 4.5.
And yet they loved Sonic Lost World's demo.
You know what, that's a problem in all Sonic games. He becomes a ball of floaty controls with the platforming. Even in the old games the buggery stuff is there. The platforms aren't hard, landing your jump without slipping all over the place is what makes it difficult.

Concurred, very much concurred, Marble Zone and Labyrinth Zone might have been a bit more easier if the control was more tight.Keane wrote:Colo(u)rs is definitely not as bad as the others. Oh my god, I found Sonic ReSaurus auction for 1 dollar. Seller must not know how rare it is. Seller is in same town where I am so I will pick up the figure when I am feel better so I can make sure it is not bootleg but from picture, it looks like it is not. Sadly there are no accessories with it.
That seller is known for selling many video game based figures. Some are sealed some not.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
The controls in most Sonic games are actually really precise, it's just that people don't know how to utilise the physics properly. Kinda like the Ubiart Rayman games in that sense.
I'm perfectly capable of playing through Marble Zone and Labyrinth Zone and I rarely mess up on them. They never were that hard to me. I can even do it using touch-based mobile controls, with little effort.
Sonic is a very unique platformer in the sense that it's the first (and still one of the only) platformer to have a strong, dynamic, physics-based mechanic to it. Most people are used to the static controls of the likes of Megaman and Mario, and therefore mistake Sonic's controls to be imprecise. The controls are perfectly responsive in most games, it's just that people aren't used to a platformer with such dynamic physics, and try to play them like a static game.
Marble Zone was still a bad design choice though, and is the root of the misconception.

A friend of mine is a reviewer and does his job in all honesty. What you're ponting out is a tired stereotype.dartofthedavros wrote:shall we sing the reveiws are paid to review with good ratings song for you sergio?

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
i didnt say every one did, but some do, which i think is why mario gets ridiculously high reviews and sonic bad ones
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
No, all the Wii games except Colors just suck dick whereas Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best 3D platformers I've ever played.dartofthedavros wrote:i didnt say every one did, but some do, which i think is why mario gets ridiculously high reviews and sonic bad ones

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
WHICH mario galaxy? if its the 1st then ok you win, if 2nd, then even unleashed was more entertaining.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Oh my mistake I thought Master was talking about dart's comment.
And I agree with you, SMG is one of my favorite games on the Wii.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Super Mario Galaxy 2 was better than the first one... what the heck. It fixed a lot of design issues, it made great decisions for the world map, it had more variation, it had more nostalgic nods, it didn't feel as empty as the first SMG did, it didn't plague you with a ridiculously cheesy backstory that doesn't affect the game's course at all (Seriously, there was no point in Rosalina's story. If it affected the ending, that would be a thing, but it isn't), it had more items, including the memorable Cloud Mario, and it had a better soundtrack.dartofthedavros wrote:WHICH mario galaxy? if its the 1st then ok you win, if 2nd, then even unleashed was more entertaining.
Also, Yoshi was awesome. If you're saying that Unleashed was more entertaining than SMG2, then you're full of shit.

I'm not the type of guy that drools over nostalgia. But nods like an updated version of Whomp Fortress? That's some awesome shit.dartofthedavros wrote:nostalgia hits me like a bullet made out of clouds! this is why i cant stand mario lately, nostalgia this, nostalgia that. quit living in 1985 people!sergiomonty wrote:it ...had more nostalgic nods...dartofthedavros wrote:WHICH mario galaxy? if its the 1st then ok you win, if 2nd, then even unleashed was more entertaining.
However, I understand your point to an extent. You cannot just swallow nostalgia from Mario games and immediately call them good. Just because New Super Mario Bros Wii had the Koopalings back, doesn't mean that it was a superb game with clever design.
However, Mario Galaxy 2's nods are subtle enough to be its own thing. It's just what SMG 1 should have been on the first place. For me, SMG 1 is terribly overrated.
