No one is spamming though? Just lot of activity in some topics lately. Record day only happen once a year and that is pretty much spam day yes but not to the point of actual spam, its more of a "post the most you can" day, kinda leading to a bunch of hilarious nonsense.

No, that's called spam. And if this were a mere spam thread it would've been locked years ago. This thread is for any general discussion on a topic that does not already have it's own thread. So in other words if someone brings up a video to discuss in this thread others can reply to it, without the video needing it's own thread as discussion would not be long enough to warrant a thread.

If a lot of members like a game and will spend plenty of time discussing it then what's the problem with game threads? Sometimes some people may not say too much but they're on the topic so that's not spam.

You don't have to say something about the last post. I've been on plenty of forums for years. The thread topic is off topic, so therefore we can discuss things which are off topic. I do not have to reply to the last post above. That applies in all threads. In the Rayman 3 thread someone can make a post, I can still make a post under that one talking about my score and not addressing the person above me's post.

Well half of this forum have posts that they 'had no good reason to be'! I'm cool with that, games threads are fun and bring members together. But it's pretty silly to say that those posts are pointless when this forum encourages game threads....

Bleh either way I think this convo should come to a halt there as it's going no where and is pointless.
