I can't even finish the first level of Picture City...
I remember there was this one part in Picture City, where you're supposed to walk down this slippery platform, and then it bounces you safely through a bunch of pencils and more bouncy thingies, but I had just gotten the ability to run, so I assumed I was supposed to run through it, which caused me to lose about 30 lives over it before I accidentally walked down it and realized the mistake I had been making.Greenbottle3 wrote:I can't even finish the first level of Picture City...

I know EXACTLY which slope you're on about, the one after the stupid "bounce maze," it took me two continues to figure it out first time.Glaciem wrote:I remember there was this one part in Picture City, where you're supposed to walk down this slippery platform, and then it bounces you safely through a bunch of pencils and more bouncy thingies, but I had just gotten the ability to run, so I assumed I was supposed to run through it, which caused me to lose about 30 lives over it before I accidentally walked down it and realized the mistake I had been making.Greenbottle3 wrote:I can't even finish the first level of Picture City...
OH GOD YES, THAT'S THE ONE... If I remember correctly, you start at the beginning of the level when you use a continue, that makes it that much worse that it comes after the erasers maze. Plus when you get there, you probably don't have lives to waste attempting something which can get you killed.Master4lyf1 wrote:I know EXACTLY which slope you're on about, the one after the stupid "bounce maze," it took me two continues to figure it out first time.Glaciem wrote:I remember there was this one part in Picture City, where you're supposed to walk down this slippery platform, and then it bounces you safely through a bunch of pencils and more bouncy thingies, but I had just gotten the ability to run, so I assumed I was supposed to run through it, which caused me to lose about 30 lives over it before I accidentally walked down it and realized the mistake I had been making.Greenbottle3 wrote:I can't even finish the first level of Picture City...
Really? or you are kidding?Greenbottle3 wrote:I can't even finish the first level of Picture City...
Has anyone here seen that video already? I haven’t. Very odd. I guess those hybrids were Mr Dark’s transformations after all.Raymanarenaps2 wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owC7crC6 ... re=related
Rayman on Atari Jaguar?
I have, but how do you come to that conclusion? If it's the Mr Dark health bar, it's there in all of the versions...spiraldoor wrote:Has anyone here seen that video already? I haven’t. Very odd. Seen it, though I still doubt they are Mr. Darks transformations. Perhaps the developers couldn't be bothered giving them separate meters.spiraldoor wrote:Has anyone here seen that video already? Indeed, that's a curious fact I can see in this video too. Well, wizards can normally transform themselves.spiraldoor wrote:In the other versions, the three hybrids each have their own health bars (albeit each with Mr Dark’s face), and Rayman actually defeats all of them. In this version, the two hybrids share a single health bar, and when half of Skopsstone’s health is gone, he voluntarily walks off the screen and is replaced by the Moskito thing, which literally flies away of its own volition when it’s defeated. When you look at it all together (not to mention the fact that the Moskito Space Mamas literally share a health bar simultaneously, further suggesting they’re the same being), it definitely points towards Mr Dark as a shapeshifter – and I say this as someone who’s always assumed the hybrids to be creatures in their own right.
Exactly! But it doesn't at all look like he died, does it? At zero health, the MoskitoMomma just jumps out of harm's way. I guess Mr. Dark survives -- aaahhh and that's how he gets to be in Origins?Drolpiraat wrote:You're right, now that you mention it, they do seem to be the same character. Notice how the transformations pant every time they are defeated - as if they're thinking "Damn, he's too strong, I need to try something else!".
I think it’s more likely that the developers of the other versions thought it would be more satisfying for the player if the hybrids went blasting into the air when they’re defeated, like most enemies do. They also thought the game deserved a more challenging final boss, which is why they doubled the hybrids’ health and added another round to the fight. If they really wanted to retcon Mr Dark’s shape-shifting, they certainly would have changed the Mr Dark health icon rather than using it for all three hybrids, and they wouldn’t have given the Moskito Mamas a joint health bar that suggests they’re the same being.stan423321 wrote:It surely was intended meaning at the beginning. Well, there was also Jimmy at the beginning, right?
Generally Jaguar version is less polished than other ones (control issues, physics... make less sense; the only good stuff I can think of would be Moskito being colored correctly and those letters). Given Ubi staff removed these detailed animations, I guess they have "retconned" Dark's shapeshifting.
