Same thing here. I played RM lots of times and I don't find anything wrong with the game. I should consider trying out the PC/PS2's Arena and see what's different.

I remember on the back of the PS2 Rayman M box there was a screenshot of Pipe Maze I think, Rayman racing somebody else, but the opponent looked like an upturned wizard's hat surrounded by stars. I thought this was an unlockable character or a boss character, and it was years later I realised it was a stunned Globox. My entire life was a lie.

From what I remember Rayman Arena has more PC-like graphics/feel to it and has worse box art!

We should totally make a Rayman M spin-off game in its honour where you can play as a zillion characters like the Hoodoo, Ly, Reflux...

*files this away for future use*

Yeah a remake of Rayman M, but after Rayman 3 with all of those characters :) That would be pretty cool!

I don't think I'd include any kind of 'why is this canon' in a game like Rayman M though, so I'd just throw together a bunch of characters I'd think people would like to play as. ;)

But! New maps! Think of the creativity and collective idea pools necessary to think of all the crazy environments, hazards and shortcuts as we all know and love from Rayman M's maps!

What could a Hoodoo possibly bring in a racing game?

Protection? ;)

A curse: everything is turned upside down/your movements are inversed for a few seconds. Classic feature, but relevant with a hoodoo.

It wouldn't be the first time a developer threw in a feature just because it would make them feel good themselves. :P
Similarly, what good do two versions of a Henchman bring to a racing game?
rolesfamily wrote:Wtf is canon?!
canon:
1) Shooty shooty boom stick.
2) Music form where different parts of a song are sung over each other in layers, thus creating awesome harmonics and hard-to-follow lyrics.
3) Something that fits in the universe of a series as something that actually happened, as opposed to something that for example a fan would have made up. You could also describe it with 'official' or 'factual' (even though it describes fiction...). If Nintendo says Mario is a sunflower, that is canon, even though I might not take it for canon. I will say 'I don't regard Mario being a sunflower to be canon' much like I say about the Rayman series that I don't regard the events detailed in Raving Rabbids, Origins and Legends to be canon, but that's just because none of the games fit my view of what Rayman's world is like (and because I'm foolhardy in that regard).

I thought that's what the barrier power-up was for.

Actually, this power-up is doing this exact same thing: full protection, and if you try to touch the hoodlum, you will lose HP :)

Are you joking or you really didn't know the meaning of word "Canon"?

I was trying to correct Shroob, not mock roles! :P

I always thought there was some spelling mistake I made when I typed either one and now I know why.

Mind you, I wouldn't want to do anything Mario Kartesque where you have powerups in the race itself. If you win a race, it should be because you were the better racer, not because you got the Rayman equivalent of a Blue Shell.
