I think he may just want a PS3 and PC simply for internet access, so he can control things outside the prison.

But, regardless, why would anyone give two fucks if he went on a hunger strike?

He did have laptop if I remember correctly so internet access is probably not reason.

In fairness there are a few inmates that do get access to consoles; I remember when a tabloid made an article in the early 2000s complaining about inmates (such as the ones who murdered a British toddler back in the 90s) being given luxuries and in this article there was a picture of a Dreamcast with Sonic Adventure among other things.

Still no excuse to start a hunger strike though.
