I agree. Ever since I got Vista was around the time I started upgrading my computer. Really, as long as your machine wasn't made of goat shit, Vista was great.

Kinda random, but I just realized it's been a year and one week since I first logged onto the RPC. A whole year! Kind of a milestone for me.

Hehe, so it has! Feels like you've been around for much longer though, you've come quite far.

Congratulations!

In August it will be my 6th year in this forum. Time flies so fast. I also don't want to be picky but could you resize just a tiny bit of your signature? It seems a little bulky but it is really something minimum (unless it is already inside the allowed maximum size).
Honestly, Vista was a huge disappointment for me. Compactilbility problems and you literally needed a super computer to boot it. I downgraded back to XP in a month after using Vista. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been.

I am glad to know I am not the only one who thinks same. If Vista worked bad on your 1000 EUR PC from 2007, than you can imagine how it worked on bad computer from 2003 I had back then.

Vista is Windows 7 with all the service packs, minus the pretty appearance. Heck, even with just itself or the first service pack ran pretty well on my Dell laptop from 2007. It was a basic dual core AMD laptop chip with integrated graphics and 2GB RAM. Started out with 1GB. By no means was it a power house. Ran games the same whether it was XP or Vista.

I hate Vista. It takes 2 minutes to load and it’s super slow.

Fixed it.

Congrats!
I can't believe in August, I'll have been here for five years. Unreal.

Agreed once again. I first ran Vista on a 2005 laptop with the same specs, and with a 7600 GT mobile, and it ran just fine. When I eventually got Vista on my desktop in 2008, I had the same specs, and a 9800 GTX. Even after I upgraded to a Core i7 920 and 6 GB RAM, I noticed very little difference. For me, Vista was an upgrade in every way and ran great.
The spec requirements really aren't that high, people just often tend to install it on their low-range computers from 2000 and expect it to function optimally. Even the lowest-end pre-built Vista machines have pretty much no problems, to emphasise the point.

Oh, sorry then. When I read your post since you mentioned Super Computer, I thought you wanted to say that even on your PC it did not work good.

Not at all, but if your computer wasn't good enough, you would struggle to boot Vista.

Ahh, Vista, takes me back, this ol' and worn laptop once came out of a box shiny and new, with Vista running on it. It ran pretty decently, though I upgraded to 7 back in March 2011.

I prefer Windows 7 because it just looks better than Vista, is newer too. Though with that said, I prefer it and Vista's appearance over Windows 8.

Vista's appearance I actually like the most, especially with that glossy gradient taskbar. I've installed a few mods I currently have a Vista theme currently installed. Unfortunately I can't have the blur effect, only the transparency, as while the blur was still left over in Windows 8 in the registry, it was removed entirely in 8.1.

Ah yes:
I recall particularly liking how the start button almost seemed to be indented into the taskbar itself. That being said, I did like the introduction of having mere icons to represent open programs on the taskbar in Windows 7, it made things a little more concise and tidy, particularly when one has plenty running at once.

Yeah it isn't bad at all. Certainly beats Windows 8.

That kind of thing carries over to Windows 7, doesn't it. Although, it's not quite as prominent there as in Vista, it seems. I personally like Window 7's simplicity in its design and its glassy look, unlike what's shown in the screenshot. I'm much less of a fan of 8's design. It's way too ridged for my taste. I feel like I'm looking at a bunch of highly saturated color swatches instead of windows. It just seems lazy to me. I guess that's why I like the simple, glassy design more. Because it's looks like--ahem--a window?
