It's quite variant, and it changes per album. I'd probably have to say that the newer their albums, the more 'friendly' they are to the casual listeners, but their older ones are either "you love it or you can't stand it."

Though, their genre is progressive/experimental if anything. It's usually his voice that people hate or love since it''s rather unique with a small amount of Radiohead resemblance.
