Yeah that's very true. As long as what someone likes isn't harming anyone, it's not a problem. It's at the point where I haven't actually played Rayman in ages but I still love being part of the community. :P

Very true! You should definitely give them a replay, Steo! I find that whenever I replay the games it can really remind you of why you love it in the first place. :hap: Which one would you go back to first if you had the chance?

Actually I feel a bit ashamed to admit I love Rayman games because many people consider they're made for kids and everyone I know irl never heard of Rayman or just say "oh I used to play it as a kid".
So I do not usually mention my passion for Rayman since I know that people are not interested in it, I'd love to meet someone or make new friends irl to share this passion of mine :(

In that workshop I had at Ubisoft Milan I had the chance to meet other Rayman fans and we all became friends, I was so happy to finally meet some people that could understand me and share my passion with them, I loved those days a lot and in fact the saddest part of that experience was saying goodbye to them when I had to get the train to go back home :(

I'd love to meet other Rayman fans again, if you ever come on vacation here in Rome let me know! :D

Well, we were planning to do a meet-up eventually! But Itzal, you also know very well from your experience at Milan that adults work on these games and they are just as passionate. The next time someone makes fun of you for liking Rayman as an adult, you ask them, “who do you think makes the games? Adults or children?”. :P

I agree, and I suppose Rayman 2 on Dreamcast if I'm not too lazy to set it up.

You should set it up and play with Hoodoo! I feel like you two would have such a great time. And you can yell “GIVE ME THE REMOTE” at one another when one of you dies on a hard part and the other wants to try

Oh if only i wasn’t a big guy living on the other side of the world! :oops2:

I play Mario and am proud to admit it despite clearly being ‘made for kids’, Rayman doesn’t make me any less guilty of it. :mryellow:

With the right planning, it can still happen Jade! You’re smack dab in the middle of America, but meeting other Rayman fans is an opportunity I’m sure you wouldn’t miss :mryellow: I think the stigma against video games and adults is slowly fazing out, especially since the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s kids have grown up and have started to make a name for themselves in the gaming industry! Plus gaming is considered a professional sport now.

It's funny to think how many Italian Rayman fans I met in the community but most of us live very far from each other

How ironic is that? You guys should pull a Disney and make a gated Rayman community. 8)

Haha
I did now know there were so many Rayman fans in Italy, I thought to be the only weirdo who liked it in the country!
I only knew that Rayman was much known in Poland due to the huge amount of Polish players I saw when I used to play online challenges in Rayman Legends and I knew that Rayman was way more popular than Mario as Nintendo consoles like the N64 were not shipped in that country time ago.

Geez I remember those Polish kids flooding the leaderboards 2-5 years ago

I guess it depends on the people I'm talking to. I wouldn't be ashamed by admitting it to my friends as they play other games and we respect each other. There are some of them who aren't really into gaming, but there's a big confidence between us so they don't really make me feel bad about it. On the other hand, I wouldn't admit I like Rayman to my workmates as I don't think I've shared many personal things with them.

I wouldn’t go announce to some random people I met 5 minutes ago “hey I like rayman”

For me personally, here is how I would see the popularity of Rayman depending on how many friends I have from that country that say they are. Poland, Italy, France, England, America, Canada.

Italy is definitely a common one, but what shocks me more is how Rayman isn’t more popular in France. Most fans I have met online just haven’t been French, but maybe Discord just isn’t that popular over there?

It’s interesting how Rayman 3 just took Poland by STORM, though. They always seem to credit the third game for its success in the country, so the localization team must have done wonders.

Good point! It’s usually for the best to keep personal interests outside of work since you never often break past that level of being work friends.

Yeah, I think other than places for video games like conventions, talking immediately about your interests like that will put people off haha

She has the N64 version of it but we only played it one night for a while, mostly me lol. I have it on PC too but idk why, I always liked playing older games on consoles.

You have to play them on consoles! I don’t even feel right playing Rayman 3 without my GameCube or booting up the Rayman 1 CD rom on my family’s old computer. It just adds to experiencing that magic again. :hap:
