LOL AVGN wannabe
It's because New York is so SPARKLY AND SHIT whereas England is a shithole with strict smoking bans. The typical Hollywood actor would not survive without a single drag don't you know?

I hate the way the US is treated as the 'default' location on earth, and the 'default' nationality is American. Bleah... I want Europe to be more powerful in the world...

Because America is the largest consumer in the western world, and movie studios know this. if you can make in America you've got it made.
But i can understand why it annoys you. It bothers me that when we brits are watching US comedy we're expected to know the names, histories and often scandals of past american legends like Nixon and the Kennedys, things which you don't normally learn about in school unless you do advanced history and look at American history, not to mention knowing american-specific celebrities like Jay Leno and Adam West, JUST to understand half the jokes! Seriously I didn't have a blind clue who Adam West was and he's in EVERYTHING from Family Guy to Fairly Odd Parents. If i don't know who he is as i was born in the 80's how are kids just switching on to shows like FOP right now going to know?!
And yet when British stuff is sent over to America it's expected to dumb down so the audience will get it, the distributors seem to think that the American public don't own computers and can't look stuff up on Wikipedia. They didn't have the luxury of Animaniacs giving them brief history lessons to keep them up to speed like we did (seriously almost everything i know about American history came from Animaniacs. That show was ace).

Even I knew that.
Did you think he was some kind of fictional character or something?

God it sucks! Okay, US humour generally works for stuff like movies and TV shows, but when it comes to stand-up, it's just bad.

A new bother... about a dozen spots have just popped up. I wash my face thoroughly thrice daily, I don't deserve this.

Spots are nothing compared to bites.

I have 2 on my right hand.

No, I'm very angry about this.
Also none of these domestic treatments work for me, trust me on that one.

you know what's worse than spots on your face? Spots, boils, ingrowns etc on your thighs. Fuck me they hurt.
When I get a face one I don't really put anything on it, I end up popping it and just letting it heal up.

I had a discussion with some people over the past few nights... Mostly involving my game.
I'm very shaky. : (

..........what?
The comedy stereotype of a Scottish person is that they're cheap, mean and foul tempered, not clumsy/stupid. That's the WELSH *avoids bricks* XD
(I'm kidding of course, the Welsh and Scotts are lovely people ^-^)
I think that saying that all American comedy sucks is like saying all British Comedy is amazing. There are some great american comedy shows and there are some dreadful UK comedy shows. It all depends on what you find funny. Some people think FRIENDS is comedy gold. i don't agree but then again i can't stand The Office so i'm in a minority. And there are some great American stand-ups too, they just get overshadowed by all the toilet humor that the majority of UK and US watchers enjoy

Yes, actually. Most of it is nervousness.
I can't exactly give out a lot of details, but.. you see, there is a slight deal with someone that's making a bit of custom music for my game, and this means that some game companies are also looking at what I'm doing.
No, not UbiSoft. I'm going to stop rumors like that right now.
But this DOES MEAN that after Fire Under Siege, I'm pursuing some more original game ideas for sure... Mm... First and probably last fan-game of mine indeed.
But overall, no, I don't have a job or whatever. Game company job or no, I am continuing to work with friends on much better things.
P.S., I'm editing my post to note this:
Raygirl wrote:Because America is the largest consumer in the western world, and movie studios know this. if you can make in America you've got it made.
And yes, that is usually true as well, though I wouldn't feel too left out, just because I've seen my fair-share of good British films.

England is hardly like anything you've seen in a cartoon, movie or whatev. Just as many chavs, alcoholics, druggies etc as Scotland has.

Yeah the british steriotype is that we're all frightfully posh and snobby, wear bowler hats, drink loads of tea and have horrible teeth
I can say for a fact that with me 2 out of those four things are true ;D
Either that or we're all cockneys like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. Thanks to that film the world thinks britain lives in a time warp where the social classes are so very obviously seperated. You're either a cockney/begger or a posh git.
In reality the closest film I've ever seen that accurately captures modern britain is Shaun of the Dead, even though I didn't like that film.
Though i do wish more english men would wear bowler hats
humanahumanahumana
