ITEMS GALORE!
I present you the many items you collect in "ELEM, JEENS, & ELI: The Odyssey of the Hero Trio" (yes that's the official name of the game right now). I've worked this to show the different catergories for the items could be easily identify on what they do.
Image

Heart Fruit: They help out by granting health to heroes who have been hurt.

Broken Heart Nuts: Ironically, DO NOT collect these! They might kill you!

Magnificent Moolah: Collect coins to earn Tokens. A token is granted for every 50 coins! Rainbow Rocks are deep underground, so ground pound everywhere! They're worth 500 coins! That's five lives right there! So rich!

Element Amulets: These goodies are found in every level! Some are hid in Bonus Rooms and others are found by revealing them.
They unlock secret bonus material!
Earth Amulets unlock Concept Art
Fire Amulets unlock Sprite Animations
Water Amulets unlock Stories
Air Amulets unlock Music
Time Amulets unlock Cutscenes
Space Amulets unlock the Last Level to the Last World

Main Land Gate Keys: These are needed to unlock the gates to the next world. Don't worry these are impossible NOT to get!

Power Ups: These help out by giving the heroes extra invincibility, ammo, or lives.

Special Lives: Grants heroes more than 1 life. Their rareness increases when the amount of lives it contains!

Groovy Collectables: These are just to show off and make you feel proud for playing the game!

- Elemental Galaxy Compasses: These show the amulets that you've collected. Legend states, they show the way to ultimate power. Ooohhh~

- Royal Boss Gems: These prove to people that you beat the boss and showed 'em who's boss! The gems are worth at a priceless amount! 0 coins! WORTHLESS!!! : D

- Time Trial Champion Trophies: Shows that you beat the former champion at the timed race! 2FAST4THEM

Another goody before I end this update! A hi-res image of the...
PLUSHY LIVES! Aren't they adorable!?

So wait, have you done anything game engine-wise yet? I'm enjoying all those updates, but that's not the most important!

This is honestly the first time I even seen this topic, and I must say I am looking forward to this. Great work so far, Brad. :)

I know, I know. What I've been doing is trying to get all of the games features planned out before doing the real work on the game, but yes I get what your saying I will try to find a engine soon.

Ahh, looking at the first post, it's been a while now, hasn't it?

It has, hasn't it? I'm quite proud of how much I've improved on my style of the game. And just wow, with all the content I have shown (that is now planned to be included the game) and comparing on what I started with, the 2012- Early 2013 version of the game is just bare bones if it were a skeleton.

Mm while planning out all features and doodling/designing keyframes for everything is nice and also my own preferred working style, I must admit it's better to at least start meddling in an engine (or even better: writing your very own!) sooner rather than later. You'll have all the more time to learn about the mistakes you make along the way and get a feel for how the game evolves in the 'real world' while still designing to your heart's content. The programming problems and design choices you have to make suddenly become very real, but they tremendously aid your perception of what the game will be.
My tip to you: start setting up something incredibly basic, even in something as simple as Game Maker or Blender or something and don't start worrying about the details (I know, it's hard). Make a mock-up proof-of-concept kind of thing involving most if not all of the aspects that will be included in your game and maybe create one or two testing levels. When you can play around in something physical, it's easier to think of what will come next and what needs to be changed in your design ideas. Get a feel for how the character feels when you play him, how the combat (if any) feels when you have it and how the level design feels as you walk around in it. Hear your background music playing in what is hopefully still the background (does it dominate the scene and if so, is that the effect you desire?). Anything to get accustomed to what the actual game experience will be like for players when they have the game - it will be all the more fun and will help your future design choices skyrocket in detail and plausibility.

Presenting the Hero Trio's Movesets!

When playing "ELEM, JEENS, & ELI: THE ODYSSEY OF THE HERO TRIO" or EJE: TOOTHT for short, you will be in control of the three heroes (but not all free willy-nilly, it's already set-up and all three heroes have the same amount of levels they play). So here's a basic rundown on how each characters should play like.

ELEM AGE
The quirky boy of the Hero Trio, Elem is the hero who has the powers of the Four Classic Elements fused in him. Elem's moves are pretty wacky in comparison to his friends' moves. Always with fisting enemies. Forget that last verse. What makes Elem unique is his ability to double jump which he can do also do in mid-air! Unlike his friends, Elem is also agile enough to wall run. Now that's groovy.
Image

Jeens Pantson Shorts
The more serious, yet still goofy Jeens. The leader of the Hero Trio, Jeens is retired Space Cadet who is quite handy with his Plutozium-powered Blaster Gun. He's also a bit trigger happy so be careful when he's shooting. Jeens' unique ability is his rapid shooting, it's faster than Eli's attack and has a longer range than Elem's attack. Jeens can't double jump nor can he fly, nor can he wall jump, but Jeens can effin' PLAZMA JUMP! It's like Rocket Jumping from TF2 but with plazma.
Image

Ellie "Eli" Heavens Cielo
The angel with attitude, Eli is the metal/rock loving, guitar-playing girl who loves to show off. Since being a drop-out from the Guardian Angel Academy, Eli has dedicated her life to being a hero for the Worlds of Whimsical Domains. Eli belongs to a family of bomb experts and she is one of the best in generations to handle a bomb. Though with great skill, it takes a bit for Eli to attack. Eli's ability is unique since she's able to float and even fly in air currents. And another thing is that if Eli happens to fall into a bottomless pit, she will not lose a life.
Image

Basically if you didn't read any of that: ELEM = RAYMAN, JEENS = EARTHWORM JIM, ELI = YOSHI.

You make some great points, Shroobie. Which is why I'd like to announce that I am now done planning everything for EJE and I'm going to start working on a demo. I will start learning about the engines and programming in order to do so. I will also start practicing animating in order to get satisfying sprites.

Some very interesting artwork indeed, Brad. I'd probably tend towards Jeens, futuristic laser guns and all.

I really like this, however, may I suggest fuck that "if Eli happens to fall into a bottomless pit, she will not lose a life." It's kinda eh, cheap I'd say.

Guys, I think Master is gypsy. Shh... And why is that? Because he predicted the FUTURE! Ohhh~

Presenting the last artwork before I officially start deveopling the demo, the 10 Ways to DIE! in Elem, Jeens, & Eli: The Odyssey of the Hero Trio.
(That ladies and gentlemen is what we like to call in the industry plagiarism.)

A series of sketches of the different death animations.

1. Fate: Occurs naturally when the hero runs out of health.
2. Poisoned: Occurs if the hero consumes one of their poisons if only the eat one at low health or eat the most lethal of poisons.
3. Bottomless Pit: Occurs if the hero falls down a pit with no bottom.
4. Vaporized/Disintegrated/Burnt: Occurs if the hero encounters lasers, death rays, flamethrowers.
5. Crushed: Occurs if the hero happens to be in the bottom of a falling object.
6. Exploded (Gibbed): Occurs if the hero is in the blast radius.
7. Sliced N' Diced: Occurs when the hero encounters slick blades.
8. Ate: Occurs when the hero encounters a hungry creature.
9. Electrocuted/Electrified: Occurs when the hero discovers lightning.
10. Screen-Related: Occurs when the hero finds out the element of game mechanics or really hazardous objects.

It may be cheap, but you must understand. For every bottomless pit Elem and Jeens encounter, the less Eli encounters them. Basically, there's less pits when playing as her. Trying to even out the odds, if that helps.

Thanks for reading. Feedback is appreciated.

Thanks you two!

I've been learning the basics of Game Maker and I'll see what I can make out of that.

And shit... Now that I've revamped the second half of the Worlds of Whimsical Domains, I have to refurbished the first half now. Expect the first one soon!
