As Plum said, Corcaí is pretty close to Corcaigh which is Cork, and that's why it's kinda funny. We have a County named Cork here.

I know that, it's named after the city with the same name. Though it surprised me that it was something completely unrelated to the bog.

The location does mean The Bog Of Murk, but it doesn't translate properly. Corcaí is basically swamps and Buafacha is toad. It's like The Toad Swamps.

"Buafach" is a neologism meaning "toady", the same as "crapoteux" in the original French. Also Cork is so-called because it's built on marshy land (a flood plain in fact), so that's the connection. That's why the city's always flooding (though mercifully not lately, when I've been going through it).
