Robin's roles in Mrs Doubtfire and Fern Gully took up quite a chunk of my childhood so I'm gutted by his passing. If anything it's a stark reminder that there needs to be more awareness of depression and mental health as a whole.

I just watched CGP Grey's video on robots, automation and how they will shape our world in the future. It's fifteen minutes that will hopefully get you to think about some important matters that we are facing in the near future. I encourage you to watch before you read my comment on it, but I do wish to start a conversation about it if anyone's interested.

To quote myself in one of my replies to the video's comment section (I have nothing more to add):
On YouTube Shrooblord wrote:The only thing we can hope for when the machines grow powerful is that they will know such concepts as mercy and compassion and that they will allow us to live, for the sake of living, not because we need to serve some purpose they can obviously do much better themselves.

Until they decide against us, I welcome the robots. They're cool and useful and I hope people will find a way to earn themselves a living if the droids come and take their jobs. But most importantly, I hope they will allow for us to co-exist. I'm sick and tired of human acts of 'superiority' wiping out other groups of humans and I only hope that the machines will be better than that, not more of the same.

There's a petition going around asking Nintendo of America to name an NPC in the next Zelda game after Robin Williams: https://www.change.org/en-AU/petitions/ ... iams#share

Frankly, I want to see this happen. He and his daughter deserve this.

Yup, I saw this on your tumblr yesterday.

I had forgotten they were in an advertisement for Zelda on DS. Well, I'm not a big fan of Zelda myself, but he deserves it.

I remember the advertisement. It made me laugh then and now. I hope the petition gets any sort of desired result; like the author stated himself: even if nothing happens from Nintendo's end, the petition alone would be the sign of the many lives Robin touched.

The new goal for the petition is now 150,000. I hope it gets to that amount in the next few days.

I hope that too. I just signed and I'm in the late 75,000.

Oh yeah. Why did it go up another 75k? Will it continue to do that to keep newcomers encouraged to sign also? That's a pretty weird system for such a lovely gesture.

Just remarkable steps, I guess. Not that important for people signing.

I wasn't too happy reading about Zelda closing her Twitter account over this though. People get too weird in these kinds of situations, sadly.

I just read that in the petition page. What happened? :/

Not sure. Massive shitstorm of people going crazy, harassing the poor girl, spewing crap about how everyone should honour Robin as a god - basically, fans taking it a step too far, I read in the subtext. These things happen. We can only help by standing back and honouring the man as we see fit.

They sent her a Photoshopped image of him being hanged.

I support her decision to shut down her Twitter account. She doesn't deserve to be treated that way,

Well, at least for a bit, until the negativity blows over.

I was recording something on Mass Effect 3 MP to test the best position of my microphone, and then I entered a map I've never seen before, designed like if it had been done with Counter Strike Source. Blue/Grey squares all around as textures. And you can imagine myself trying to commentate with a terrible English thrown somewhere I didn't even know it could exist (I thought custom maps didn't exist in Mass Effect 3 MP mode).

Well, that was unexpected.
