I don't get it, Five Nights is not scary, it's the same generic cute-character-with-weird-face jumpscare thing that's been happening since the beginning of film. Literally nothing new has been brought to the table at all.

Maybe you're right, but it's more the suspense of checking every room going "oh god where's the bunnyAAAARGH" than just expecting them to pop out and go "maaaaah". They won't attack you if you don't keep an eye on them.

Unless it's the fox, then he just attacks you anyway...

Five Nights is scary, but it's only because of jumpscares. The cheapest of all scares.

There were other ones, but Pinkie was the most frequent.
Most likely due to the fact that she's most party-oriented.

What's been brought to the table lies in not the elements Five Nights uses to scare you, but the way it uses those elements. The actual bare elements, such as the scares, character designs, atmosphere, and story, aren't very original, granted (the jump scares in particular are stupidly cheap), but what's new and interesting about it is that it uses a completely different form of gameplay style to create a sense of paranoia that we (or at least I) haven't felt before in other horror games. It's a proof of concept, not an excellent one, but one that's worth your five dollars and will create reasonable chillage.
