I came to this forum disliking the level and one of my least favourite R2 levels in fact, and now that I've been here for awhile, I've come to like it for its length and the lava rides with the plums (which honestly they aren't really used much throughout the rest of the game after that point). The only thing I still hate about the level is the shell ride in the optional temple.

The plum rides on lava were a gimmick for that level, which I guess is why the files are named "Plum". Then I guess the plum gets used a just couple of times in the rest of the game in more "usual" (w.r.t. the first and third games) forest environments.

That shell ride is annoying all right. It's basically impossible to get a Try Again because it gives you so many Red Lums, but still, you can easily lose that lovely Gold Fist you get just before it :mefiant:

Rayman Saturn wrote: Sat Jul 09, 2022 3:26 pm Yeah, the Candy Château levels in Redemption are pretty painful. It became better when I got used to it, but it’s still far from being the best "new" parts in the game IMO.
Choco Chambers and Tasty Reception are those that exhausted me the most (as well as the castle part in Mr Dark’s Dare the first time I played it).
Totally! I don't remember the level names but I found the one with the super helicopter really annoying, which I assumed was in part because of the slightly different game mechanics compared to the original. I also remember having a hard time finishing a level where you have to cross lakes of lemonade. Good thing I was playing on casual.

Same, I first hated the the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire but it quickly grew into my favorite level.

That makes me realise I meant to say The Sweet Spot (the third level) instead of Tasty Reception... but in perspective, the latter is pretty exhausting as well... and it’s the one with the most sadistic lakes... so I think that’s the one you meant. The worst is that it’s the first level of Candy Château and you can die in the first 10 seconds if you don’t expect the liquids (which are out of sight when you jump) at the beginning!
The Sweet Spot itself was only a hard time for me because of the number of enemies in some parts (and which are placed in a way that makes them difficult to hit) and because of the Gift in the nightmarish part with the Pink Rings and Pricklies (I can easily do it now, but it drove me insane the first time).

Playing Mr Dark Dare’s original parts after these levels feels like a breeze in comparison lol

Actually even Mister Dark's Dare caused me some problems. There's a flying ring in the first Bad Rayman section (the one from the original game) that I couldn't get to swing me high enough to reach the next platform (just before the exit IIRC) so I kept falling and having to backtrack. Nerve-wracking! :confus:

I was never able to beat Mr Dark in that game, I think it's the Mr Sax-Mr Stone hybrid that always got me.

Never had an issue with, but I understand why it could give troubles to anyone considering the weird ring physics in this game. It seems the trick is to jump before Rayman actually reaches the biggest heights while swinging.

Yeah, that hybrid really got many complaints lol. It’s what just caused me the most deaths in my Casual playthrough. There’s just so much to dodge that it’s like a bullet hell. :confus:

I found the physics of the flying rings frustrating too, but nowhere as nerve-wracking as that of the infamous yellow rings. :confus:

Everyone always hates the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire but it's one of my favourite levels in Rayman 2. :oops2:

It's my favorite now, but as I've probably said many times already, I hated it the first time. Love-hate indeed.

I came here to say exactly what Hunchman801 said. It took me some growing/maturing to appreciate the mystery, in the music and in the level design both.

Although the Precipice is an absolutely amazing level as well, and this I thought from the very first day. You feel like a true action hero - including that beautiful hovering downwards, brilliant piece of level design - and the soundtrack is great too.

Unpopular opinion here I don't really like the longest shortcut played the level when I was twelve and found it very boring just my opinion though sorry?

Naturally it is the worst and least inspired level in R3. It is quite boring and the platforming can get annoying at times. However, it provides a relaxing break from the intense Knaaren level before that, so I dunno.

when I first played the game I wasn't that scared of the dessert of the knaaren because my dad watched me and helped with some parts so it wasn't that intense

Unless you're scoring and attempt to hit the shoe ten times in a row. :fou2:
