Oh, you're doing this in Game Maker? Uhh, friendly bit of advice - and this is from a Game Maker quote unquote pro who loves to program games in the engine -: don't use Game Maker. :P
It lacks more in engine power than it is capable of doing, even if it's a kid-friendly entry into the programming world. You're probably better off straight-up learning to program in for example C++, Python, Java, Basic, Pascal, Lua... you name it, really.

Game Maker Language, however, is C-based or at least very similar to it - so I guess it's a good step up to getting started.
---

My final advice, I think, is that although you can create pretty neat games that work alright to well, Game Maker has severely dysfunctional limits to what it can do for you and you should probably look for alternatives pretty soon after you've started meddling around in it. It's nice, but it's not excellent.
Also the Support service has gone to shit, but that's another matter. :P

Ugh. Very well than, I'll learn something else. Thanks for the advice.

In other news may I present you all with a sketch of the NEW & IMPROVED "Totem Vista Village"!

I thought to myself, since I've already revamped "Sky Cloud Country" and "Evil Lair Lands", I might as well recreate the older worlds. Please leave any suggestions or feedback, I would love to hear your opinions.

Ahh, getting back into the swing of things now that you've graduated, eh? Looking good as always, Brad.

Speaking of which, are you going to continue to a further study, or are you taking a year off (I'm just assuming you graduated from secondary school, but now I realise I don't even know where you graduated from!)?

Heheh your totem village is great! I like the two totems halfway up and on the left edge the most.

And about the Game Maker affair, it's not crucial that you never touch GM to begin with; play around with it, learn to program some - it's a friendly environment to do so in. Then, if you're ready to move on, move on to another platform. Or don't! Realise I'm a shitbrain and do your whole game in GM if you like - what I said back there were just the thoughts of someone experienced with GM in some way or other. Maybe you will see its other benefits and like it more than other engines/languages than I did.
But probably the best thing you could ever do is write your own engine from the ground up - it's tough and hard work and will definitely take some time, but after you've done that, you'll have a solid core that many of your future games can base themselves on from thenon forwards.

I'm continuing my studies at a community college before heading to this one university that really interests me. I graduated from Chaffey High School.

Thanks! I'm working on the real deal right now and should have more stuff. It'll be inspired by mostly Native American, ancient Hawaiian, and more little island cultures I can find.

And I get what you're saying. Though, I should go with other engines because to be honest, Game Maker looks too clunky for me.

Presenting the New & Improved Totem Vista Village!
Image
Yes now you can enjoy the new and improved Totem Vista Village in amazing detail! It's the same content but more expanded! You can view all the locations in which the levels are going to take place. Also no, the video game icons monument mountain will not be present in the FINAL Land Map or the totally obvious Mystery Shackwill be in it either. But they will be present in the game just hidden subtlety.

And now LIVE! The "EJE Development Team Skype Group!"
Image
I've open a Skype Group for the Development team for the game! Only people who are helping me with game are allowed in the group, that way no one can see what we're up to. I made this group because I remember Ad wanting to know if this game had a meeting place for developers.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate any feedback, unless it's nothing but babble. See ya~

Oooh, definitely feeling the inspirations from the likes of DKC and N Sanity Isle from Crash. Also like the little nod in the mountains.

That was my initial thought, I remember the ol' Quack Attack game on the PS1, which does seem to fit with Brad's style somewhat.

Not only I enjoy, but they are very crucial to the game since it was those games that I got a whole lot of inspiration from.

As you've stated in the past, yes. Hmm, I've never heard of Duckman, I'll be sure to look him up when I get back.

Okay, a little update. I haven't been able to nothing with the engine because I've been moving. And since college is almost over, I will have time that is if I don't get a job or something. But during college, I have been reworking the story which reminds me...

Anyone interested in reading the intro? PM me if your interested.

Well, that could be a reason for me to buy my own micro :D.

Dunno', my voice is actually low and has a flat tone (ya know, French normal voices are very boring to hear).

Anyway, you are still doing a great job. Keep going!
