I thought before that the Fiesta de los Muertos one was the original because he's the only one who actually uses magic in the game. Plus he'd be the one in the middle of the five.
But now I'm starting to think each one represents a different aspect of his personality.

Yeah, but don't ya remember? Ales was a teensie that sucked at magic, so he couldn't be the original.

You're saying the magic of the clone was better than that of the original? Interesting.

It's true and somewhat amusing with context involved.

Perhaps being a Nightmare augmented its magic skills.

If he spliced into five separate identities, maybe the one that was always good at magic was before supressed by part of him that wasn't - and now that that 'good magician' is out, he can perform magic like never before, while the incompetent one runs around as a separate entity.

My thoughts exactly. It could be fun to think about what the other parts represent.
But it seems the "nightmare" thing overlaid each one with extra malevolence, since they all go around abusing Teensies for no reason.

What do you mean for no raisin? Ales was bullied by his fellow kind, no shit he's gonna abuse. It's payback!

True, but his main objective was to create order, the Dark Teensies in Legends don't seem to have any issues with the nightmares going around spreading mayhem, it seems contrary to his point.

Maybe he wanted to imprision the Teensies and then get order.

Bit of a coward going after the defenseless Teensies, we know at least two of the Dark Teensies had the power to get things in order.

Well if you think about it, the Dark Teensies had control over the nightmares (they whistle in dragons, the Armored Toad, the Luchador, the Sea Serpent, and the Hydras). Imprisoning teensies was just the last of their plan and they would have been successful if Rayman and friends weren't awoken.
The only nightmares they didn't have control over were the dark creatures.

Hmm, true. Though their concept of order just seems to be a less benevolent incarnation of Bubble Dreamer's approach.

Well, villains work and think differently. They think their way is the right way.

Fair dos. It's stuff like this though that really makes me wish that RO did go with its beta script instead of opting for practically complete bare-boneness.

I agree. Ales' villainous character was so interesting and it makes me sad that it fell through.

Yeah, as charming as Ales' little dance routine is, I didn't feel anything major from being betrayed by a character who's supposed to have played a friendly role in the game I grew up with. I think having a backstory, and perhaps giving him a slightly more Magician-esque look, might have really nailed the effect that the Reveal should have had.

Not to mention that the hints he drops regarding his evil intentions don't come across as anything that might make you doubt his loyalty towards Rayman + crew, especially not when he serves no purpose other than occasionally giving a tip and showing up when a level is beat. When you have a character turn evil with no clear indication it doesn't come across like a plot twist, but rather just makes you go "what the fuck". (Ex: Prince Hans in Frozen turning out to be evil.)

Yeah, but knowing the context behind Ales make him my favorite villain. Also, his plan was pretty sinister.
