All this talk has me itching to film something again, anyone want to be in a comedy series?

Not too much, a couple of short films in school, one a comedy and the other a... drama?

Since then I focused on music until last year, when I decided film was what I really loved.

So I started writing a comedy series, but I have four main characters and only two actors, and no locations :pfff:

In the meantime I made a short skit with me best friend under the guise that it was a test for the series. In reality I was making a video for his surprise 21st party, and stuck the skit on the end, much to his embarrassment :P

I love making comedy stuff haha. I never actually did film production in school/college, the closest thing I ever did was 'Film Studies' but that was theory rather than practical.

Do you upload your stuff to YouTube? - Actually dumb question, I've just seen the link in your sig ;P

Film studies was exactly the subject for which I made the two short films

I have a couple of warnings if you do find the videos

"Mr Forgetful" -
Comedy, story by my friend, most of the jokes by me, but I cringe when I watch it now, some of the dialogue particularly is poorly worded

"Gone" (Or as it's labeled "Film 2nd Draft" -
Drama? My friend wrote another story with his dad, and we were gonna work together again, but very sadly his dad passed away, and he wasn't comfortable with me wanting to make changes, so I had to very quickly write something simple to make by myself. Also the actors that originally agreed to do it pulled out at the last minute, so I had to scramble and ended up casting a good friend of mine with zero acting experience in the lead role, which understandably didn't look so good on camera, but I'm very grateful she did it since I had about 3 days until deadline.

The other big problem was the wind, I'd planned to overdub the audio in the exterior sections since time was such a factor, but the night after filming I got a pretty bad bout of food poisoning that lasted a week, so I cut my losses and edited what I had.

So with the first half of that one, I only ask that these factors be taken into consideration, since I'm a bit self-conscious about these things (can you tell) :P

Hah well I think that goes to anybody who is now inspired to go and look at your channel ;D - Well if I do get round to watching them, I'll bare all of that in mind!

I'm looking to start a YouTube channel again, I just need to get my equipment & setup sorted!

Nice one, I'm doing the same thing :)

Today I downloaded a trial of Final Draft 9, and now I'm copying a script over to it to see what it's like.

So far, I like it a lot, certainly quicker than using word (which I was doing before), so this could be an easy purchasing decision...

Well best of luck to you my friend! It's a tough, but ultimately and potentially worthwhile struggle!

It's worthwhile for the experience even if nothing else. There's no better CV than an example of work you've already done!

And good luck to you too bud!

Thanks man :) - See we're going at it with 2 different objectives. You presumably want a career in film or TV right? So your YouTube channel is like a portfolio of your work - whereas I'm solely trying to 'become a YouTuber' and gain subscribers.

Nah, that's my aim too, the TV/film portfolio thing is just a silver lining to failure :P

Oh right, well my bad! Well that's pretty cool that we've got the same objectives then!

The next channel I'll be making will be my 4th! and hopefully my last!!! hahaha
