Ahh thanks I was getting worried there

It seems it has wiped my other score so I have less tings, so I'll have to find my copy of R3 again

You gotta admit, it's got every metaphor that was used here, so it's quite apt that I uploaded this image today!

Are you saying no to Hunch? I'm just repeating what he said: "Fifo will pay for this".

Tily is not a special rank.

Good, we don't need you to cheat. Only be proud of the score you accomplished.

So I've decided to take the plunge and actually buy a new video camera. I'm intending to use this camera for YouTube videos.

I've been doing a lot of reading about both, and I'm really struggling to choose between the 2.

Just wondered what you guys thought!

Here are the links:

The Sony:

The Canon:

Thanks, any input is welcome! Well providing it's useful ;) haha

My father recommends Canon because Canon's got more deep experience into cameras and that stuff.
However, I think Sony is bigger than Canon, and from a bigger company it comes something better from it (rip cod ghost)
So, I'm not sure, I think you should pick the Canon, however I got you a better idea, tell OCG about this, he's into reviews so he may help ya' out.

Thanks, my instinct says Canon, but I'm reading mixed reviews. I know a lot of the professional YouTubers use Canons, but then obviously that's at the higher end of the camera spectrum. That doesn't necessarily translate at the lower ends.

I quite like the Sony because it seems a bit more basic, and also the audio quality might be a bit better. It's a bloody tough one to call.

That could be true too.

Like for example, some use a Canon DSLR camera that you take normal pictures with, to use for video recording too.

It's not even obvious if these things come with proper chargers. They must come with chargers right...? - Or do they charge off the computer with a USB?

It's rather confusing.

Well, it's not really a bad thing if they charge with a USB or the wall, right?

I got a better idea: ask someone who knows about cameras, not someone who may be vaguely interested in general reviews and might by slim chance have grazed a camera or two.

The Canon appears to show a picture that shows the rechargable battery and charger that come with it. :P

I was swinging towards the Canon quite a bit today. It definitely has a better zoom quality. That's one thing that is annoying about the Sony is that the microphone is automatically off. Which is a bit odd. But the microphone on the Sony has more features than the Canon. I'm really looking for some good audio quality. I've been watching YouTube videos where people have been using & making videos with the said cameras. As far as I can tell, the Sony seems to have a better sound quality.

I know some people also use external microphones, doing a whole separate voice recording. So I guess it depends on how serious you want to get to what kind of equipment to shop for for both your visual and audio. :)
