Ah, back when Ubisoft had its glorious rainbow arc. Good times.

That animation in particular is my favourite of Ubisoft's to date. I only wish the volumetric rainbow light actually in some way meshed with the logo it forms afterward, which is doesn't in the slightest.

Do we know why they switched to the blue vortex ball? Was the company in dire straits?

They mysteriously started using it in Rayman DS.
I think that was first time ever used.

I remember playing my first Ubi Soft Game, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. The first one of the series, not teh stupid "Phantoms, Catoms, PlayStations"
The arc...was waiting for me.
And when I had to elevate the mouse because the menu was so big I needed a lot of work to get past the Menu.

PD: This guy spelt "Calncy" instead of "Clancy".

I always found it weird how none of the main trilogy games actually used that animation.
