It's a hoodie. Not skin. Rayomz can confirm that.

What's there to mention about the neckerchief?

Incidentally, welcome to the forums!

I find it interesting how so many people seem to like that edgy 'teen' look. I personally find that the least appealing, but then again my favourite characters are background characters from the first game so who am I to judge?

But this conversation begs the question, how does Rayman change his clothes? Does he have a zipper? What about his shoes?

I guess he's like Tarayzan - he has feet and a skin body underneath those clothes and he can step in and out of his shoes. Maybe his shirt is actually open underneath that neckerchief or hoodie and he takes it off by just dropping out of it like it's a onesie.

Mmm, I always thought he just changes body parts

This one. I always thought it like this.

But there are no visible openings in the shoes! Unless the soles are detachable. I suppose this isn't something we need to overthink, though.

But important question: Does he wear socks?

Mmm, I still think the detachable body parts theory of mine explains his shoes! I mean, we can see in Rayman 3 that Rayman can in fact detach his body parts, so he'd easily be able to change his feet/shoes, wouldn't he?

But where's the opening to his shoes?! His shoes man, his shoes!!!

In some covers of RRR he has brown fingerless gloves and tan skin. Just thought I'd mention that.

Oh yeah. There's that.

I always figured Rayman's body was just purple with a ring since in Rayman 1 and 2, that's all it seemed to be. A body with a neckerchief tied onto it. Also because of how his ring thing interacts with magic.

Oh well, I guess I learned something today :P

Also, Rayman definitely wear socks. Yellow with black spot socks to be exact, according to Rayman Arena's PS2 opening at least, when Globox stole his shoes.

Fuck, you're right - how could I forget??

Anyway, maybe the O interfaces with Ray's central chakra to give him wicked supernatural abilities like absorb magic powers or bind magically with a Polokus statue - so it is just a clothing decoration, but also sorta functional.

I think it's also worth mentioning that the Mask slots on Polokus's rock looked sort of similar to Rayman's ring. When I was little I thought there was a connection, but I guess it's probably just coincidence.

I definitely think there is. The Os connect - the pillars have them for a reason. Betilla's gloves have the O when she imbues Rayman with new powers. The O is significant, at least in my books.

It represents an electrical socket. This was stated in the History of Rayman book.

Wait, really? Is that in a literal sense or metaphorical/comparative?

If it represents such a powerful 'tool', doesn't that disprove the hoodie theory? Or does Rayman just have a really badass hoodie?

The way I looked at it, In Rayman 3, Rayman replaced his neckerchief with a hood and just stuck it on top of his body in the same way as he did the neckerchief. I always thought that made sense, but then in Smash Bros for Wii U, Rayman's body had wrinkles as if it were a hoodie, which was pretty confusing, though it could just be an animator's error. Then Legends also has the 'naked Rayman' skin.

I also don't take the Rabbids costumes too seriously since it's not even confirmed if that's canon or not.

No, Spiraldoor is right. I did a resume of each chapter in the book topic some months ago to write up the essencial informations of it and one of the discoveries was precisely the original symbolism of the "O".

Concerning Rayman's body, everybody knows this is what it is under his clothing (the leaf is excluded of course) :P :
