Focusing the debate on income tax means taxing work, and therefore production, even more, while the true problems lie elsewhere. I'm not sure how the inheritance system works in Canada, but I'm pretty sure that with decent optimization, someone can inherit most of their parent's fortune, live off it and barely do anything with their lives, while someone born into a poor or middle-class family that worked their ass off to get a high-paying job will be milked like a cow by the government.

That's why I think we should stop overtaxing work and instead focus on the transmission of capital if we want to tackle inequality. Then people, with equal opportunities at birth, could do as they please with the money they've rightfully earned, and unless they start living forever, money will always end up in the hands of the state and be redistributed.

Of course, it'll be hard to get such a system to work if it's not implemented globally, but that's definitely the direction we should head towards.

Those are excellent points. I was talking with my brother (who's a financial analyst) about it recently and he mentioned similar things, especially regarding storing money in off-shore accounts. Figuring out how to keep money in the country would help, but that seems insanely difficult to control, and whatever money they are taxed with progressive brackets might push them even further in the wrong direction.

I don't feel educated enough to answer most of these questions, since they're mostly phrased as "is X effective", which would involve intensely studying the economy of various countries and coming to a mathematical conclusion. Regardless, here are my "results" (rather similar to yours):

Actually I am apolitical, but think if needed to do that world some better for people I'll go to left positions of that compass for uniting of all communist political power as one for World Globalization and giving to workers and peasants more rights.

I don't know where do those results come from and it's a bit complicated to stablish a reference (what does the negative value mean?). They seem very simple compared to the ones that are posted here (like those results posted by Hunch in politiscales, for example). Also, there are other tests which provide you a more complete diagram. If you're curious about it you can check this post, some people shared the links to very interesting webpages.

So I just took the test again here’s what I got

So I found this test about Hate Values and I thought it was pretty good and I got these results.

Anyway, it reminded me of the Political Compass test, so I took it again and got these results.

It was an interesting test, here is my test. I feel like the questions about superiority might have too much weight to scale the values, though.

Yeah, some of those questions were wild

Looking at the tests and they all appear pretty similar. Maybe I’m a bit more left leaning than Melon but more right than Rsandee.

And yeah, the Japan one was CRAZY. Another one about furries made me laugh as well.

I took the political compass test

Took a different political compass test since I felt like the one most people did didn't really ask enough questions, and I got this. Also did the regular test out of boredom and got this.

I vote democrat but I'm mostly center leaning I think. Too lazy to take the quiz right now, I'll do that after record day.

Was reading lately that it's been argued that the original Political Compass quiz was originally designed in the early 2000s, specifically to show up the UK Labour Party, by designing the axes in such a way that they looked way more right-wing than a "Labour" party should be.

Weird to see such an unbiased test is biased then!

Every test is biased.
