I have got news about the Game Boy Color's Rayman 1. Apparently Clara owns the Inspector Gadget game for the console, a game that features also the Ubi Key thing since it was made by Ubi Soft. Since I have Rayman 1 for the same console, when I go to France to see Clara I'll bring my GBC and my game to test the Infrared connection with her and see if this will solve the mystery of the said Ubi Cliff level. If it happens so, I'll report in this topic and into RayWiki aswell. :)

Right, we'll try this!
I'm so sorry, I had NO IDEA that this GBC game had that Ubi key system. ^^; It was by pure coincidence when I was showing my GBC games to Haruka that I found out this game was from Ubisoft. 8'D
We'll try to solve the mystery! :3

I never even knew what other Ubisoft GBC games would have been part of the UbiKey series, let alone owned one, so to see what the unlockables are like in Rayman would be cool indeed.

.O.
Whot. This sounds like a great addition to our knowledge about the Rayman games. I've never actually been there when a secret was unveiled... hopefully you'll be able to make it!

Here is a complete list GBC games that utilize the UbiKey fuction taken from GiantBomb. Com : Rayman, V.I.P., Toonsalvania, Inspector Gadget: Operation Madakatus, Animorhs , Hype: The time quest, Gold to Glory: The Road To Eldorado, and Carl Lewis Athletics: 2000. Does anybody own copies of any of those? :| I always thought all the Ubikey was for was to exchange data on two Gamboy Color systems that both had the Rayman game cartridge in them. I'm really excited now! Also could someone explain to me what this "Ubicliff" level is?

That's the problem: we have no idea what's the Ubi Cliff level.

There aren't any screenshots or videos in the internet aswell, or text-reporting. I only heard about its existence thanks to a very old article in the archives of IGN.com and other sources that I can't remember at the moment. What is a pity is that the infrared connection cannot be emulated, and the GBC has got the backlight problem (no light at all) so it won't be possible for me to record video footage.

The only thing I can do if this works is reporting in text, with most details as possible.

Can't you use some kind of flash photography to try to capture the screen?

I've got a GBC myself so I might try filming something from it and see what setting would be best for it, though no matter what there'll always be a reflection.

Of course, but some footage of what seems to be one of the rarest things in the Rayman franchise is better than none at all. Well, at least Haruka and Clara can have fun with it together.

I don't think it would work a lot, I fear you would only see a reflected light. I'll see later what I can do. ;)

I don’t know much about this infrared connection works, but if you ran Rayman on a Game Boy Advance, would it still be possible to connect it to the other game? That would solve the backlight problem.

The Game Boy Advance hasn't got backlight, only SP and Micro (and these last models don't own infrared connection) so nothing's done.

I can try to take snapshots with flash but I don't think it will work.

Anyway, I also never tested the infrared connection between two Game Boys but it must be like the time I used to connect my mobile phone to my good old desktop computer through infrared: approaching the channels of connection to each others.

If it's in good lighting, can't a camera honestly not pick up what's on the Gameboy Color screen? I just tried it, it worked fine.

I've done the infrared thing once. I think all you need to do is face each other in such a way that the infrared bits can point to each other well enough. Look at it like one of those insanely annoying TV remotes (like mine) where you have to sit on a specific part of the couch to be able to point at your machine in the right way for it to pick up your signals.

That's exactly how I used to connect my mobile phone to my desktop computer's infrared receptor.

Well, I'll departure to France in 9 days so I'll probably have something to say in the same day.

I just beat Rayman on Gameboy Color yesterday, but I need to know how to unlock the world map so I can revisit levels to break all the cages to unlock the Dark Legacy stages. Answers? :|

Hmmm, I believe that the world map is unlocked after you beating Mr. Dark. Try to use the last password you got, and you'll probably access the world map.

You can also try to check my walkthrough for other informations ;) : http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL241629C0BDDF7BD6

Bad news, I tried out the Ubi Key thing and no matter what I do, the Inspector Gadget is the game that receives a new level, nothing happens with Rayman 1 GBC. Afterall I guess it must be another Ubisoft GBC game doing the favour to Rayman 1. :tssk: How disappointing.

Nooooaaaaahhh!! D:
Darn we're just back to square one again. We'll have to find every. Single. UbiSoft GBC game and try them all out!

A big thanks for trying though - and enjoy your stay! ;)
