Then I’d better download that system software update and give the demo a look. I’ve been playing GTA IV offline all month; the updates are too much hassle.

One month is exactly how long it took me to complete GTA IV. One of the best months of my life in my opinion.

It's on XBLA now too. I'm really annoyed at how they messed up the music in that version. There are lots of gaps of silence in the music, as if the small music segments can't load in time. But I'm pretty sure that the silence is just there in the music files. That proves they touched the music though, which is probably a good thing. It won't affect the new soundtrack either as the silence can easily be removed. :)
They also messed up the font in the main menu quite badly. Did they really completely forget about anti-aliasing when upscaling that?
I was also able to go right up to the hoodlum André was hiding in in the third part of the Fairy Council. I was never able to do that in any of the old versions...

Still, the upgraded textures and lighting make up for most of it. :)

Drolpiraat edited his post once to add a line about the textures and lighting, I just thought I'd let you all know.

There was actually a glitch in the other versions where you could kill the hoodlum, resulting in the game not progressing. It was really hard, but I managed to do it once on the PC version.

Just so it wouldn't all sound negative :P

Really? I had no idea. I walked and punched right through the hoodlum here though...

I'm downloading the full game right now, though it's running pretty slow for me for some reason.

Does anyone know why the sky in Clearleaf Forest is black in this? It's not true to its name anymore like this. :P

I just started downloading too, but it's probably going to take some time before I'm finished (ugh 1,6 GB with this connection).. Hurray for that Plus discount though! :)

I've just tried out the Trial/Demo version. I do see graphical and lightning improvements, there are some parts that seem delayed or done in a quicker way too. I like the addition of the subtitles option, but I must agree with Droolie in the music part: the Heart of the World music seemed strange for me. Although I saw graphical improvements, I still see some pixelized textures, they could at least have smoothed some. Controls seem to be mapped differently when compared with PS2.

Anyway, I enjoyed to try it out, I'll try to get the full version anyday.

I'm downloading it too. Eagerly awaiting how it's different.

Downloading, hoping that the differences are worth it.
What do you guys think of the price? (£7.99 here)
Is a purchase justified?

I think it is a good buying. But that's the price for PlayStation Plus subscribers only for this week.

PSN Plus is something that I don't see much benefit in anyway, and the price wasn't lowered as much as I'd have liked.
The prices here are:
Normal - £7.99
PSN Plus - £6.39

In euro it's about €10. Imho, not bad of a price at all for an enhanced game.

But yes, I did notice some squaring of the textures, what a letdown. The lighting looks splendid! Having played Rayman 3 only on PC, playing this game feels like I'm playing it for the first time again.

Eew that black in Clearleaf looks like an alien invasion.

Well so far I'm getting on with it until I got to the first Teensie Highway...let it be known... that I absolutely DESPISED those levels in the first place. I never saw the point of them and while what I've been doing with it was shorter than most times I've tried to get silver trophies, it was annoying...I can confirm though that by "retrying" they mean falling off the panels and getting picked up by the Teensie copter, so reloading the game won't affect that trophy.

Guess what I took my first picture of... :mryellow:

Oh Science, the black shit in Clearleaf Forest looks terrible. I guess that's what we get for poisoning the atmosphere. It took about nine years to change Clearleaf Forest into Shitleaf Forest.

There has been some improvement in some models it seems, the stairs to the Fairy Council are 3d, as opposed to the 2d texture.
But I can see what you guys mean by squary textures, it really does look unsightly, and detracts from the other great aspects.
