Re: Rayman himself
I don't really like the idea, a standalone is always, always better, especially if you wanna port it to platforms such as a Raspberry pi.

Do you mean like a free downloadable demo? I don't quite like the idea of it being dematerialised only.incognito wrote:I don't really like the idea, a standalone is always, always better, especially if you wanna port it to platforms such as a Raspberry pi.

Re: Rayman himself
It being an unlockable thing like r2 2d would be kinda neat, but at the same time, part of me would just like an old fashioned ROM, as it could be more easily examined.
As for porting, doesn't the RPi have enough power to simply emulate the SNES?

Re: Rayman himself
Yeah, but this is mainly because I aim the ports on other platforms and operating systems.Hunchman801 wrote:Do you mean like a free downloadable demo? And about the Rayman 2 demo my biggest disappointment was that it was inaccessible by other means than finishing the Rasorbeard fight. It could have just unlocked a folder containing it so the players and any other interested person could dig inside y'see.
Like with the BFG edition of Doom 3, No Rest For The Living and the original DooM games were shipped with it, the code was rewritten to run on modern systems and the game files were left as extractable for anyone wishing to play it on other source ports.
And that is really awesome.

I'd much rather have the ROM as well, but it doesn't sound quite realistic to me that they'll release it as is.Master wrote:It being an unlockable thing like r2 2d would be kinda near, but at the same time, part of me would just like an old fashioned ROM, as it could be more easily examined.

Re: Rayman himself
Rayman: The Beta Collection.
A collection of games including Rayman for SNES, 2D Rayman 2, Rayman 4 Phoenix Interactive, and platformer Rayman Raving Rabbids. All conveniently bundled into one anthology for the PS4, Xbone and Wii U/Switch!

Ancel said that more pics are coming! Can't wait!

This. And Michel Ancel has posted a screenshot of an area we never saw beforeHunchman801 wrote:A cool way of publishing it would be to make it a minigame in another title, like the cancelled Rayman 2 in the PlayStation version of the final game.
Re: Rayman himself
The pic is very inspiring. Kinda reminds me of the Organic Caves.

Re: Rayman himself
Not quite sure what this level was supposed to be, maybe a technology-inspired world?
Re: Rayman himself
Thinking about how old this proto is, it's quite likely that this is actually a tech-inspired world, after all this proto still had the jimmy storyline and in the history of Rayman book it's said that all the worlds were supposed to be based on computer parts or something like that.
Re: Rayman himself
Pretty much what Eren said, plus it seems to be partially organic too. I believe it was the starting point for RRR GBA's Organic World. I hope MA is willing to share a video footage later.

Re: Rayman himself
Rayman was originally going to be about robots and computer viruses right? For that environment to look the way it does seems to fit in with that.
Talk about a real u-turn though, looking forward to seeing more about this!

Re: Rayman himself
I think this world being an inspiration for the Organic World is a long shot; they don't seem to have much in common other than a purplish color theme.
Re: Rayman himself
The first thing I thought of when I saw that image is the Organic World, so there must be some kind of resemblance.
Re: Rayman himself
Same here, I think it looks a lot like the organic world - it's the color scheme and those odd spots on the pipes and spherical things. More than the inside of a computer, this looks like some kind of laboratory (pipes with bubbly liquids, the green laser-like light on the right, etc.) taken over by viruses (the organic looking stuff). The result of an experiment gone horribly wrong, the lair of a mad scientist, you name it.
Re: Rayman himself
Who else here thinks that chubby red Rayman is extremely cute?

(I had nothing to do so I just tried to recreate the sprite)
I also hope he uploads more pics of that level, it also gives me some organic caves vibe, and I think it looks beautiful.

Re: Rayman himself
I think it looks like a computer's coolant system.
As I previously stated, the Jimmy storyline shares a lot of similarities with Commander Keen.

Re: Rayman himself
Anyone else noticed that Rayman's eyes and Shoes are bigger and he has a longer hair in this photo:

But in this photo they both seem to be smaller?:

Re: Rayman himself
It looks like his hand is also outstretched in that image, perhaps an idle animation?
