One of the comments underneath that article sum up my thoughts about the whole four-player thing:
"Looks great but I don't have friends to play this with locally OR online and much like Mario Wii it sounds like the game really only comes into its own in multiplayer.
Why are game companies trying to kill the singleplayer game?"
Multi-player is starting to look like no more than a gimmick and besides, why would I want to play a Rayman game with other people? The first game was single-player and although I didn't play them much, so was the second and third games. Gameplay shouldn't be surrendered just for the small minority who would rather spend their time p*ssing about with their mates in multi-player mode, rather than trying to play the game properly.
Sorry, I'm not moaning and am hugely hyped for this game, but one is bound to have minor niggles now and again. We do have a choice after all; and I shall be playing as Rayman and Rayman alone.

This will be the first main Rayman game that will have full support with Multiplayer (If we take off the Main Games filter, then Rayman M/Rush/Arena could join the list). I won't have much opportunities to play RO with other people (also due to lack of online multiplayer feature in the game) but I don't see why multiplayer here would kill the single-player mode. Ubisoft did the levels in account for both situations.

Rayman Origins looks like it’s going to be way more fun than any of the previous games, and the co-operative multiplayer is a huge part of that. I’ve got several siblings whom I can count on; New Super Mario Bros Wii was very enjoyable, and I’m certain that this will exceed it in every way. In Origins’s case the multiplayer is essentially an expansion of traditional single-player platforming gameplay, and that’s something I can definitely get behind – as opposed to mindless competitive multiplayer matches with no real story or progression, which I’d hate to see take centre stage in a main-series Rayman game.
Multiplayer certainly isn’t a gimmick – it’s sad to see half-hearted multiplayer modes tacked onto what are obviously meant to be single-player games, but that clearly isn’t the case with Rayman Origins. The game has been designed as a co-operative multiplayer-compatible experience from the outset, and the game will take full advantage of that. If the multiplayer mode is seriously going to detract from the experience for you, I suppose you’ve got the wrong sort of friends for a platformer – it’s a pity you don’t have anyone who’ll play the game properly with you, but don’t begrudge us the same thing. Be thankful that the developers have taken the time to make it fully possible for you to play through the game alone, just the way you want.

Erm, are you insisting on making a game that is not possible to play by your own (offline) or do you think paradigm would hate playing with bots?

The last time I played a multi-player game I quickly got very frustrated and ended up saying to the other people: "You guys go ahead and carry on, I'm just going to sit and watch if that's okay" (coincidentally, it was Super Mario Bros Wii). Most of my 'favourite' games (Rayman 1, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee/Exoddus, Kula World, Crash Bandicoot 1 & 2, Gex 2 & 3) are all single-player games. The only multi-player game in my arsenal is Bomberman World, but then again that's the whole point of Bomberman.
I know, it's sad that I'm still into some of these games at my age, but most modern games are so tedious it leaves me little choice. Took me ages to get a copy of Kula World again, but it was worth it!
Rayman Origins will be the first new physical game I've purchased in about six years. Can't remember what the last one was.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is... a very specific example of a multiplayer game which does work in completely different fashion when you are playing it with "constant partner" and with general friends. Without going detailed, RO is already known to not feature some... "features" of NSMBW, replacing them with more obvious stuff. I think for ocasional multiplayer it will end up a better game.

There's loads of games I like playing in multiplayer, but NSMBW is not one of them, in fact I really was not happy with that one because it was everything I hated about the original Mario games. I don't think my boyfriend had a buzz from it either so he ended up selling it. With any hope the multiplayer in Origins will be really fun. Shame there's no online multiplayer by the looks of it and that would be quite funny with the right people. XD

There are loads of NSMBW's multiplayer flaws, but on the other hand, there was no similar multiplayer game before, devs can't be blamed for that.

It would be hilarious we all playing in online mode.

"*Insert drama tone here* Stacey, continue without meeeee!... "
If in Christmas I go visit my cousin, I'll bring my game to play us two. He got fan of Globox since he saw me playing once Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, Otto was doing his "drastic measures".
If in the preview they say the game is going to be really hard, then bring it on.

What an epic post...Haha
Anyway, about the Wii version being cheaper..I do hope it's not missing content from the other versions..

^Michel says he's making all the versions as similar as possible. I have a question, if the first level is supposed to be the jungle level (rayman begins his journey in the same place where he was born and started doing perverted things)... how does he meet globox and the teensies, if he hasn't even moved from the place? I hope they had a good idea in there.

Multiplayer is annoying. Never does someone take it serious. Nobody wants to play Mario Party or Kart because they always loose from me.
My mom always forgets that you have to actually move the Wii remote.

They will probably meet in the cinematic intro :p

Ha ha! You're quite right though, nobody ever takes it seriously and if you tell them to take it seriously they just say: "Oh lighten up, it's just a bit of fun". I'm quite a competitive gamer and I take it very seriously (a bit too much, some might say). If the other people playing just want to mess about, then I've got no time for them.

I have a fried who loves to play NSMBDS with me but he sucks at it so much that I beat him all the time, but when he wins, he goes mental.
Trust me, there won't be any (much) missing content on Wii version, it's just because of the graphics, also because the Wii's been out for a long time and no-one wants to pay so much for the games anymore. (Unless it's tLoZ.)
Has anyone tried to pause the video with the supposed Mr. Dark just as he opens his cape? He looks more like a teensie in a cape. I really do hope that Mr. Dark is the main antagonist thoguh.

That was done a long time ago. You can even see a pic in the RayWiki.

I dislike Mr.Dark as a Teensie. It makes his appearance seem... dumb.
