I think so, one of his artworks (that we've buried now), had statues of various VG characters.
Another question though, will there be hugs?

Yes there will be references like in the backgrounds and will be very limited in jokes. I'm not one for pop culture reference humor, yes even when it comes to joking about other video games.
Also, I already have a trailer planned out. I'll give you details like it shows the premise of the story and shows off the Hero Trio and what they do. It's gonna be awesome!
I hope this game is like Rayman Origins times 1000 plus infinity!
Story is coming along pretty good!

It requires the same sort of thought pattern, in my experience. Programming is a lot about how to solve the puzzle of what you want to do and how to get there with code.
Hey Brad, great puzzle!
If you'd have switched capital letters around with others than their lowercase selves, you would have had me running around in circles for a while longer. ;D
