It works on its own. It doesn't copy or use any other files from your copy. Although I removed the DRM so it is indeed now completely free.syntheticgerbil wrote:First I downloaded it from the first post and installed it. I seem to have all of the working EXEs without ever bothering to get out my Rayman Collector DVD. Even without installing it I can play Rayman 60 Levels and every other game and it doesn't seem to need redbook audio. Is this patch just every version of the game ever for free? Or is it because I probably put some version of Rayman Collector on here years ago and is still in my registry despite uninstalling the game? What's going on?
I am sorry to tell you. The audio is seperated from the video clip and is placed in the CD Audio Track. This issue is well known that laggs. This only way to fix this is by mounting the real CD from the CD drive. I did everything to fix this issue but just doesn't seem to work fine.syntheticgerbil wrote:Second, my biggest thing here that I was hoping for was the intro movie. I guess I can't seem to figure out how to get the game to play full screen or without skipping like I can in DosBox myself, so the audio keeps skipping and is completely out of sync with the movie. However I like this version because it plays at a higher frame rate like the PSX version. However I am not so in to the voices here, I prefer the American version. If I put the American Intro file in here will it still play at the same speed? I see Emshomar said he got the intro to play at this frame rate by emulating a Pentium, but I have no idea how he did that.
That is one version you have. However there is another Making of version which is incompatible and that is included in the german version of Rayman's World.syntheticgerbil wrote:One last question is the first post says that this patch somehow plays the Making of Rayman 2 videos. I don't see how to do this at all as there is no EXE for this. I have the Rayman Forever CD with the English dub of the making of videos since Rayman Collector is all of it in French in Quicktime format. I mean no big deal because I still have a zip of a video player that will play all the files individually in Windows XP if I just select them straight from the disc.
The american intro and outro are available as DLC. You'll have to pay me some tings. Are you using Windows 8? It works on Windows 7 much much better. For the Making of Rayman 2, it actually is meaned that is makes it compatible in one version but it is not included anymore. The program again will not stretch Rayman to your native resolution. Rayman is designed in 16:10 not 4:3 or 16:9! If your monitor itself doesn't support any 16:10 resolutions then just use 'Desktop' as a resolution in your Configuration file.syntheticgerbil wrote:I don't know a bit of a let down on this patch, I don't feel like it delivers the promises on the main video. I can't get fullscreen no matter what I do, there's no way to play the Making Of Rayman 2, Intro and Outro are out of sync, I can't choose the American intro and outro, and the game runs kind of laggy no matter what I do. I just have better luck using DOSBox and adjusting the CPU cycles for all of this.
Good point! All versions can be seen on YouTube for free anyways.Master wrote:And why pay for something so measly in the first place? It's a mere intro, at the end of the day.
Except the voice actor for the magician sounds high in the PAL version.Master wrote:So, offering it as DLC for a price, because you don't like it, wonderful practice.
No I know that, I'm just saying I get better results if I just set it up myself in DOSBox instead of using this patch. I just now tried the intro with my version of the game in DOSBox with my settings. Now that I know I just have to emulate a pentium processor for the sake of the intro video running smooth, it works without any lag and runs at the higher frame rate. What I'm saying is your patch is not more efficient and has less options than if you were to set it up in DOSBox yourself, since you released it using your settings.emshomar wrote:I am sorry to tell you. I'm not sure what you mean about the Making Of. It's a Windows app on Forever (in the U.S.) and you can run the video files for it in full screen just fine on an arbitrary player the will play .rpl format. I have this player zipped if anyone were to want it.emshomar wrote:. For the Making of Rayman 2, it actually is meaned that is makes it compatible in one version but it is not included anymore. Did you used Bandicam or Fraps to check the framerate? It plays indeed 60FPS.syntheticgerbil wrote:Also I should note, your original video is incorrect, the intro video does not ever play at 60 fps, the frame information is not there. At most it plays at NTSC standards at 29.97 fps, but more than likely it's playback is always 25 fps for PAL standard, considering it was a game developed in France. No one was encoding 60fps video in the 90s, and the game companies still don't usually do it now for prerendered videos either. One reason I started up your patch was to see if you tampered with the videos to make them 60 fps through frame interpolation, but it turns out you somehow assumed it was running 60 fps.
That version you have works OK. There's another one which is incompatible and uses DirectX5 for playing the videos. That version sor far I have seen only in Rayman's World.syntheticgerbil wrote:I'm not sure what you mean about the Making Of. Tings isn't real money. It's the currency of the forum here and the Intro files are a little bit tweaked to run synchronous, just like the european intro.syntheticgerbil wrote:I don't really understand how tings work here, I've never bothered with them. Are they real money? If that's so, why would I give you anything when I already own the U.S. game with intro.dat and conclu.dat myself? That's a little bit dishonest charging money for copyrighted content you don't actually own.
That's just using the native frame rate of DOSBox. Native frame rate is not equal to 60fps. Rayman itself doesn't actually run at 60 fps, it is either 29.97 fps or 25 fps depending whether or not you choose 60 or 50 Hz, respectively, within the menu.emshomar wrote:Did you used Bandicam or Fraps to check the framerate? Like I said, it runs perfectly fine with my own DOSBox settings, so I'm sorry to say, I don't see how the patch is an improvement except for people who don't know how to use DOSBox.emshomar wrote:Tings isn't real money. Here is your answer:syntheticgerbil wrote:Like I said, it runs perfectly fine with my own DOSBox settings, so I'm sorry to say, I don't see how the patch is an improvement except for people who don't know how to use DOSBox.
Which is who it is for, people who either don't know how to use DOSBox and people who can't be bothered to configure it, and just want Rayman to run at good speed with no glitches. Please stop ranting about how it doesn't fit *your* needs, because just because you don't think it is very good, plenty of other people have used it and been perfectly happy, and emshomar has put real effort into making this patch.syntheticgerbil wrote: Like I said, it runs perfectly fine with my own DOSBox settings, so I'm sorry to say, I don't see how the patch is an improvement except for people who don't know how to use DOSBox.
There was a release in English, in certain collections such as Rayman Compilation.syntheticgerbil wrote: Also, whoever sourced Rayman 60 Levels in English, where did you get that from? I thought Rayman 60 Levels was only ever released in French or maybe German. I don't think there was a UK or US release. Did you guys hack that in?
Odd, as I have just made a Linux version on emshomar's request. There is one compatibility bug but I could fix that.OldClassicGamer wrote: Wait, you cancelled Linux version?
No I didn't hack it. Rayman 60 Levels exist only in Rayman Compilation and Rayman 100 Levels. Rayman Compilation came once as a promotion with Sony CD-Rs and Rayman 100 Levels is a Dutch only release. I used Rayman 100 Levels.syntheticgerbil wrote:Also, whoever sourced Rayman 60 Levels in English, where did you get that from? I cancelled but RibShark took the work over him since he's more experienced with Linux.OldClassicGamer wrote:syntheticgerbil wrote:Like I said, it runs perfectly fine with my own DOSBox settings, so I'm sorry to say, I don't see how the patch is an improvement except for people who don't know how to use DOSBox.OCG wrote:Wait, you cancelled Linux version?
Er, how exactly is that his "answer" if he just made a post boasting about how great the game runs under his DOSBox settings?OldClassicGamer wrote:Here is your answer:
