The part is since this started off as a rumor, it managed to get more than a couple reviewers to pop the cartridge in their mouths to test the validity of the statement, lol.
As for the system itself, I have little care at the present to get one but once a few titles are out I'd love to get hold of it!

The quality of gaming journalism lately is top, its great seeing grown ass men report on this, thanks Kotaku! I'll be sure not to do it!
Okay, so I've been seeing a lot of reviews for BOTW and it's really hyping me up to get the game, unfortunately thanks to Nintendo doing a great job of keeping those things in stock,my chances of getting one are slim, but I might end up paying scalped price in the summer cause I really want to play BOTW.

I actually got that off the BBC, for what it's worth. I haven't frequented Kotaku in years.
And yeah, I've been following the BoTW reviews also, if I could get a Switch solely for one title, I'd be tempted to give BoTW a shot.

I think Kotaku and Polygon were the first to report on it, but other sites followed, it's like watching grown ass men act like children.
I'm hearing BoTW is a good entry point for newcomers to the franchise too, so that's good to hear. I'm hearing the only issue with the game is some massive framerate drops in some areas, though is still managed to get perfect scores across the board.

Hmm, the BBC article cited someone from GiantBomb, stating he did it on a whim.
As for the frame-drops, is it the case for both the Wii U and the Switch, or just the Switch when undocked?

No, I heard the framerate is actually worse when the Switch is docked. As in, it plays better in portable mode.
There are framerate drops to 20fps in all versions though.
As for Breath of the Wild, it looks interesting but there are just no other games for the Switch now. A lot of people are complaining about hardware problems too (e.g. the Joycon connectivity issues which apparently aren't fixable with a software update), so I'll probably get a Switch in a year or two when(/if) there are more games and the hardware is better and cheaper. By then, there will probably be a "complete"/GOTY edition for Zelda as well, too, so waiting is definitely the better option. Unless you have a Wii U, which I don't.

His majesty may have forgotten Shovel Knight : Specter of Torment, which is Switch exclusive for now.
(But I haven't bought it yet because I gotta watch those finances, yo)

Well, 1-2 Switch is Switch exclusive as well. Of course fans of Shovel Knight would disagree but I find both games comparable in that they are very low-key and I have zero interest in either of them. I meant that apart from Zelda, the Switch currently has no games that I find interesting enough to consider playing. Even the titles announced for the rest of 2017 or 2018 didn't really do much for me, so it's not so strange that I decided not to buy one yet, I think.

Ah, a pity about the framedrops, here's hoping Ninty can rectify it with patches.
As for the launch titles, Ninty seems to have gone hard on the Indie market, I've heard about a lot of Indie titles for the Switch, but not so much mainstream. I feel that while it's nice to bring in the indie devs, there should still be a reasonable focus on mainstream devs, indie titles can surpass titles made by mainstream devs, but there often can be a sea of mediocrity and shovelware. I just hope Ninty can curate and filter good titles from the bad, so we don't end up with the situations we seem to end up having on Steam, and to a lesser extent, PSN.

I wasn't really waiting for it but Yooka-Laylee looks like a worthwhile game to play after Botw, it's the kind of platformer the Wii U really lacked. I'm fine with Nintendo themselves just putting out 2-3 big titles a year (I don't have time to play more than that anyway), because I'd rather see them keep up what Botw and Odyssey are doing, but I am kinda worried that if the system and library don't pick up that they'll fall back into shitting out rushed, calculated games to guarantee safe sales.
Indie games are a good step in that direction though, I haven't looked at the presentation yet but I heard it was a pretty solid lineup. Nintendo's just not gonna have the Fallouts and Dishonoreds on the system, but making sure to pull in whatever they can - indie developers, sports/online games, JRPG's, etc - could make for a varied alternative to systems like the PS & Xbox.

Went to a Switch Event last Friday. Played the upcoming games they had there. Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, 1, 2 Switch, Sonic Mania, Just Dance 2017, and others I can't remember. The games were so much fun. I really can't wait for Splatoon 2, MK8D, and Arms. Such fun titles.
And right after that event, I came home to see that my Switch arrived. So far, I'm enjoying the system. A bit bare, but I'll patiently wait for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (which I already preordered).

I got the console yesterday and I'm feeling pretty satisfied with it. The joycons and grip are surprisingly comfortable, and I think the more stripped down, sleek look of system will resonate better with people who aren't already sold Nintendo fans.
Zelda is also just top notch, I was kinda worried I wouldn't have the dedication to invest in a game of this scope but I can't wait to clock in tons more hours into the game. Great art direction, and very intuitive game design - five minutes in I felt like I was already playing the real "meat" of the game, and it manages to teach you how to interact without ever feeling like a tutorial or treating you like a dumbass. Even the difficulty feels ramped up, in a good way, which is a welcome change from Nintendo's handholding of the past couple years.

Hope y'all have a strong jaw for the eating contest game in 1-2-Switch, that minigame is harder than it looks. ;P
I'm still going to wait until a bit later for more games to come out and also for them to hopefully go down; not really in the mood to pay £50 for Bomberman R when I still don't think it looks amazing. I did however feel glad that it's in the top 10 in the UK charts though so it makes me hope they'll make better Bomberman games in the near future.

Yeah, no. As much as I like Projared I find some of his reviews to be incredibly one sided.
Despite mentioning BOTW's abundance of framerate issues and still giving it a 10/10 proves my point. Not to say the game isn't fucking amazing, but with the framerate issues I think it's more of a 9.5 than it is 10. It's obvious he doesn't want to do that seeing as how Nintendo wouldn't send him free shit anymore. Though for the most part he seemed fairly truthful in his Switch video, but barely mentioned some of the many various design flaws of the system.

Is it worse for some people? I haven't had any real problems with the framerate, sometimes it dips a little but they're just little 2-second drops that never interfere with a battle or something.

I suppose its not too bad, but for 2017 that certainly is an issue, and despite mentioning that Jared couldn't even at least take .5 points off, obviously out of fear from Nintendo not sending him free products anymore. Also the framerate has dropped to 20 in some areas, so either you've played very little or are lying. Go watch Digitalfoundry's video.

You know exactly what I'm talking about. Nintendo has been known to cut off all communications with youtubers and ecelebs for criticism of free products in any little form, it's not unusual.

I have about 10 hours into the game. It doesn't really seem like an issue per se, just a little problem that doesn't affect the game. The bigger issue I've had is the occasional joycon desync (Which Jaredo does mention) that's caused Link to drop himself off a cliff a couple times.
Rayfist wrote:Yeah keep laughing at being jobless and leeching off your parents, it suits you well.
Lol you fucking triggerlord, I didn't actually get it for free.

Well yes, but a 9.5 isn't gonna ring bells, they've permitted worse reviews. But yes, I don't watch Gamexplain reviews anymore because there's a very obvious disconnect between the criticisms they'll mention in the discussions that are lacking or downplayed in their reviews.
