I fear I never attempted such. I wonder if USB ones will work, because if I remind well back in the Windows 95 era, the controllers had PS/2 cables.

Yes, Windows 95,98, and possibly 2000 had 15-pin sockets for you to plug gamepads into, now computers use USB sockets for gamepad input, Rayman 1 was designed with a 15-pin controller in mind, so I doubt a USB gamepad would work. Running the game in DOSBox allows me to use my N64 to USB converter on the game though, but it doesn't read all of the buttons, and behaves rather glitchy. I was wondering if anyone has used like, for say, the Xbox 360 controller on this game and it worked well.

I've successfully used Rayman 1 with a USB controller. This was back on Windows 98 though, and I'm not sure if it works through DosBox, but USB gamepads do seem to natively work.

I've done the same via DOSbox, and it works fine :)

Really? I should try out with the USB controller I own too.

What gamepad was it? Playing PC games with the Xbox 360 controller seems to be the best way to control, I want to find a gamepad that works effectively, is read by most games, and is at a practical price point. Are there any suggestions?

A gamepad is a gamepad; if you have a 360 or PS3 remote, I don't see why you'd need anything else.

I know, but currently I'm using a N64 Controller to USB converter, which besides emulation use, it's a shoddy piece of junk. And I'm not that serious of a PC gamer, so laying down 30 to 50 USD for a 360 or PS3 controller, when you don't even own either of their respective consoles is kind of pointless.

True, but I'm sure it's still better than using an N64 controller. Don't you have any other controllers lying around? I'd let you borrow my PS3 controller but - yeah I think that wouldn't be able to work out, considering the fact that I'm talking to a random person on the Internet. I'm sure you can figure something out, but even if you can't, an N64 controller is still better than nothing.

Unfortunately, no, I don't have any other PC controllers lying around. Agreed, having an N64 controller with a terribly uncentered joystick is better than nothing.

I'm sure you could find someone selling a PS3/360 controller pretty cheap. Or, at least cheaper than what you had said.

It makes me wonder if it happens to exist a good GameCube to USB converter. It would be particularly useful to emulate Nintendo games.

Ah, that sucks. But yes, you do have the N64 controller, and I guess it's better than nothing at all.

I have a question to make to R1 PS1 owners.

My game copy is black-labled (not platinum) and my game disc is white coloured with Rayman drawn on it. However I do see that the normal copy is yellow. Do I happen to own a rare copy of the disc or this disc is actually from other release?

EDIT: I guess I figured out why now. French copies have got white discs, while UK ones have yellow discs. :P

Truly I only played this game on the GBA on an emulator, I found it really fun but I couldn't finish it since my computer happened to break down last summer. I'm probably just gonna buy this game (along with Rayman 3) to see what I'm missing out on.
