It looks pretty depthy to me and it blends well. Keep in mind a background is a background; it's not supposed to jump out at you, unless it's supposed to jump out at you.spiraldoor wrote:If they were aiming for a ‘bland blue mist’ aesthetic, they certainly succeeded.

Re: Rayman 3
The cover of Rayman 1 is perfectly focused and grounded in its own reality. It creates an intriguing and mysterious space for the character to inhabit.
The Rayman 3 artwork on the previous page, however, is a mess. There’s loads of detail packed into the left side of the image and the bottom-right corner, but everything else is practically blank. There is no focus. It’s painfully obvious that they Photoshopped three separate pieces of artwork together. I mean, look at the space Rayman is inhabiting. What is it? A forest? A lake? An interdimensional void? The pale blue aura that surrounds him only serves to heighten the falseness of it all.

Oh wait a sec, I was viewing that on my phone before and the right side of the image (everything directly to the right of the edge of Rayman's nose) was totally cut off. I see what you mean now that I'm on my big screen.
EDIT:
Ah fiddlesticks, now I have to find a new quote for my signature.

Did you find out about the existence of Scaleman today by clicking the link in the Hoodlums navbox on RayWiki? If so, that means it’s working.Mammothphant 2 wrote:Its a shame that Scaleman wasnt in the final main version. Hes the the coolest Hoodlum.

Re: Rayman 3
Does anyone knows where I can buy Rayman 3 for N-GAGE, but just the cartridge? It must be in mint state.
I wanted to have a backup genuine copy of the game.

Re: Rayman 3
No sorry Haruka, I don't know.
But hey, does anybody recall ever watching an interview video with an animated sequence in which Rayman turns from his R2 look to the R3 look?

Re: Rayman 3
Eh? I don't think I ever saw that video interview.
About the N-GAGE thing, I guess I must buy a sealed copy or something since it is the only thing I can find. My cartridge gives signals of use, but hey, it is around 8 years old.

Re: Rayman 3
I finally got around to purchasing this on PS3. Sucks they didn't attempt to carry over any of the Gamecube extras or reinsert 2D Nightmare, but whatever. I'm more annoyed that all the "Wanna Kick Rayman?" videos are missing from Extras and have instead been replaced with Rayman Origins artwork.
Don't get me wrong, the Rayman Origins artwork is gorgeous, but all it is is a page for page scan of the artbook I already own of the game through the amazon.com version. I guess I'll always keep my Gamecube copy, so it's not the biggest deal in terms of missing stuff.
Otherwise, the game clarity and textures are much improved, besides the graphical glitches you guys have detailed. It's not as well done as Beyond Good and Evil HD, but I appreciate being able to play this game this way. Feels very fresh. Well worth $10 at least.
My main issue with the game is just the trophies, most notably the 100% every act one. While I'm sure almost all of you here are experts, I never 100%ed the levels when I played it a few times years ago. I just made sure to get the Murfy stamps. There's so many precision tricks to perform to get a perfect score that I simply don't have time to keep redoing every level to just achieve 100%. Plus add to that, if I finish a level and have a 97% or something, I have to start the whole chapter all over again, watch every cutscene again, and play every act again just to get back to that level. It's so obnoxious. I'd prefer if they just made the trophy so that you just got every Murfy stamp instead. Honestly, playing Rayman 3 this hardcore is making me annoyed with the game and the camera not following me quick enough as I try to quickly reach the next gem. How any of you get Matuvu in combos with the long zoom time is confounding enough for me.
I have so far 100%ed the first two chapters in about 5 hours of game time, but I just know Tower of Leptys and Desert of the Knaaren are going to give me major issues. Also, were the controls for Racket Jump always this janky?
Really foremost I have always played the Rayman series to relax, take in the atmosphere and worlds, fight the awesome bosses, and solve the tricky puzzles and find the secrets. I wish the trophies had just been more like Beyond Good and Evil, which just involves unlocking and getting everything, especially since I don't get a platinum for any of this (considering it IS a full game and all, like the Prince of Persia HDs).

After working through the first three levels, I paused in the Bog of Murk to check my total score, only to see that I somehow had not only unlocked The Longest Shortcut, but also the Summit Beyond the Clouds, Hoodlum Headquarters, and the Tower of the Leptys - every level. The strange part is that they all had the "revisit" icon and it said I had completed them all with an obvious null score.
Does this mean I need to stop the game, start over, then finish it completely before I do 100%? I also went back and restarted each chapter alone to 100% as I go and somehow all the chapters are unlocked for me as well, except Tower of Leptys. Does this mean Tower of Leptys will not unlock then?Cairnie wrote:UH OH this is exactly what I did and I ended up having to reset my save file.

Re: Rayman 3
I admit the trophies of R3HD are more hardcore than casual. You'll want to read guides for the Matuvus and Green Gems.
The Racket Jump minigame is the toughest one for me by the way. It is frustrating loosing after more than 10 minutes trying to beat the CPU.
Indeed, it is disappointing the Wanna Kick Rayman videos not being in there, but I guess that the RO artworks were to make more publicity to the game.

That, and the logo change, which I feel was completely ridiculous.

Re: Rayman 3
If they wanted to ‘modernise’ Rayman, they should have done it by making a new Rayman game – not by going back to an old one and fooling around with it. Each Rayman game has a unique logo which is a key part of its identity. They took away Rayman 3’s own logo and replaced it with a Rayman Origins clone logo.

Re: Rayman 3
My sentiments exactly, I've always felt that the logos of each game reflects upon traits of the game itself, in the case of R3's logo, it reflected the motif of the hoodlums, that is, it looks patchwork and artificial.spiraldoor wrote:If they wanted to ‘modernise’ Rayman, they should have done it by making a new Rayman game – not by going back to an old one and fooling around with it. RO's logo looks organic yet simplistic, which reflects on RO rather well, but not on R3.
Re: Rayman 3
Oh gosh this. I swear I keep getting around 96% even with my best attempts, it feels frustrating to go back and play the level just for that remaining 4%. I only aimed for the smiling Murfy in my original game too, not sure if I'm willing enough to get further than that at the moment.syntheticgerbil wrote: My main issue with the game is just the trophies, most notably the 100% every act one. And I agree with this new logo issue. Ehh, I just dislike how Photoshopped it looks even on the intro video.. I loved how that original R3 logo flew on the screen with the hoodlums and all. Now it's just not the same anymore :')
Re: Rayman 3
I don't understand why PS2 games need HD remakes. When I can play PS1 games (even Rayman 2) and graphic don't bother me, then PS2 graphics are good enough for me and when you think they are without glitches and any problems.
There isn't very notable differences in the original and HD versions?
